Spring forth from that powder-crazed tram crowd and beat everyone to your favorite stash while wearing the Marmot Men's Freerider Pant with waterproof-and-breathable Gore-Tex fabric. These loose-fitting shell pants fend off the gnarliest weather to keep you dry and comfortable, and include vents so you can control your temperature on long, hot bootpacks. Dedicated alpine-addicts looking for a steadfast pair of in-bounds and sidecountry shell pants would do well to reach for the Freerider Pant.

  • Gore-Tex 2L fabric is durable, lightweight, and waterproof and breathable so you stay dry on the outside and won't feel clammy underneath
  • Zip-in gasket allows the jacket and pant to zip together so you have one, integrated outwear set, ideal for sealing out the elements on deep days
  • Leg vent zips allow you to vent excess heat when you get a little hot in the britches
  • Internal gaiters with gripper elastic pull over the top of your boots to thwart the invasion of deep snow
  • Cordura Scuff Guard on the pant leg keeps the ankles of your pants from looking shredded after a long season

Unanswered Question

Do these pants and the marmot freerider jacket need to be the same size for the zip in integration to work?

good quality ski pant

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Purchased: small

I'm 5'9" and wear a 31-32x30 pant normally. originally ordered a medium, fit well in waist but ran a bit long. returned for a small and am happy with fit. They are a relaxed fit so the mediums were "baggy" for my taste. Construction seems solid and while they are not insulated there is a liner which helps them keep their shape

Great Ski Gear

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 7"
    Weight: 160 lbs
    Size Purchased: Small

Start with a note about sizing. I'm 5'7 / 160. I typically wear a 30/31 waist and these pants fit perfectly. I spent a LOT of time looking for a Gore-Tex pant with an inseam under 31 inches - I was tired of accidentally snapping my old pants into my bindings. Problem solved.

I've skied a couple days in them - initial impressions are great. The pants are super-comfortable and roomy without being overly baggy. They're well-built, breathe well and the internal Velcro waistband is really nice.

Bottom line - great fit, great decision.

Excellent Ski Pant

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large

I'm a 6'2, 230lb, skier and I ordered the large. I probably could have gone with the XL but I'm losing weight so was thinking about the future. That being said these pants fit me pretty well. They were a little tight around the waist but perfect in the crotch and knee areas. The XL felt a little too baggy. The pants are very good quality pants. I took a trip up in Canada and skied in them for 4 weeks straight and they are still in perfect condition. I did a lot of skiing through pretty dense trees and not a single tear or rip. They also kept me at the perfect temperature and dry as I tend to run pretty hot when I ski. I think I finally found a ski pant that will last me more than 1-2 seasons.

Excellent pant!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Have used this ski pant a few times and really like it so far! True to size, holds up to really wet and cold days, and looks cool. Several compliments on it already. Definitely like the integrated powder skirt to pant zipper with the Marmot jackets. Overall I would recommend it.

I'm 6' , 175 lbs wear a 32 x 33 pant. I have a pair of the Spire in a medium. They fit very nicely except the are about an 1" too short.
Would the Freeride in a large be way to big ?

I'm 5.7' and L fits good...The're little too long when I'm not wearing ski boots ;) But once I put my ski boots on, there's no problem.... I think the L size will be best for you man :)
Smaller will for sure be too small and too short...

Runs big, other than that awesome pants.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large

Yo pow lovers ;)
I have 101 cm in waist so I was ordering XL and was actually little worried if they will be big enough. When I tried them, they were way too big. Returned and got me L size and they fit perfectly with still little bit place left to put t-shirt/jumper in the pants. Besides that - awesome stuff, very good quality and comfort.

Are these pants Gore-Tex Pro or Performance shell?

Just did an online "live chat" with Andrew at Backcountry . His response to this question is that the pants are Gore-Tex Performance.

Loving my Marmots

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great pants, usually wear 34x34 pants, got a large and they fit perfect. They are a bit baggy but that is the cut of the pants. I bought the orange spice, and they are orange!

Relaxed Fit, Nice Styling

Love the fit of the Freerider pant. They are relaxed and allow plenty range of motion when out hiking or spinning hot laps through the park. Overall a solid, warm, and dry pant! Love it!!

Carharts for the slopes

Great pants, well made and comfortable. Definitely a roomy cut but not overly steezy. The outer fabric is super burly, one of the heaviest weight fabrics I've seen used with GoreTex. This does make them pretty heavy and fairly warm but I think that's a plus for resort/sidecountry skiing which is what they're made for. I have these and the Freerider Jacket and I absolutely love them together.

6'1" 32/34 185#, Medium fits great.

Hey Venechuck, what size is your waist? I'm like a 31" waist, looking for the longer inseam on the mediums, just wondering what your waist size is...

large and baggy ,but nice pants

Im 6'3 and 100 kilos with a 36 waist and the pant size I bought was XL but really could have done with the large. Very baggy loose fit.

Burly, badass pants!

Bought these this past fall, and have been riding all winter in them. They take all the abuse I can throw at them while boarding some 40+ days and counting. Pants still look brand new, zippers rock, everything is well won't be dissatisfied. marmot is making solid stuff, generally for less than the competition. Nice job Marmot!
