Enjoy all the features of a fleece, with the aesthetic appeal of a hoody. The Marmot Women’s Flair Hooded Sweater insulates with thick, plush fleece, and it fits well over a base layer. Throw an outer shell on top if old man winter starts blowing some precipitation your way. The Flair Hooded Sweatshirt’s zip pockets cradle your cold hands and stow a snack or key. And the Flair hoody appreciates a woman’s curves—you’ll find no boxiness here.
Bottom Line: Do you want to go above and beyond with your flair?
I really like this fleece -- I was looking for something that would keep me warm at work and on my way to work, but would also appear to be a little more than just a standard fleece. Fancy and warm. Just one thing on the size -- I pretty much always wear a small. I'm petite at 5' 2''. While the jacket fits well around the torso, the sleeves are *just* barely long enough when my arms are down. If I'm moving around the sleeves creep up, exposing an inch or so of my wrist (which sucks when it's cold!) But I do like how roomy the hood is...I can wear a ponytail and the hood still fits over it. Also, make sure you keep a lint roller handy -- the fabric likes to collect things. Maybe since I have the black one it's more noticeable. But it washes up really nicely.
It's the BEST fleece ever!!! I love it more than my TNF fleece. It's so soft and comfortable!!! My mom saw it and she likes it also, gonna get her one too! BTW, it does not shed much with me. I have been washing the fleece on weekly base and it's still holding beautifully!

I returned this fleece because the hood made the neck line look really wierd. When down, the hood did not drape like a normal hoodie or hooded jacket--but kind of made a cowl type neck. The fabric and color were great. I really wanted to like it---but I returned it. If you are buying it to wear with the hood up all the time--it would be fine.
This jacket is like having a snuggie that you actually want to wear in public. The pile is crazy soft, fit is close and cute, but not restricting. One thing I didn't realize would be so nice on a casual layer like this: the zipper coming up all the way to the top of the neck (if you want) has kept me from grabbing a scarf or gaitor when I'm riding my bike at night a couple times. Any time I can carry less stuff around I am a happy camper.
I put this on over a tank after ashtanga when I'm still sweaty, or will bike with this and a light layer under. Due to these sweaty experiments, I have found that it will carry some odor (like most synthetics), and the pile gets a little clumpy after a while, but it washes very well.
Definitely a cute, cozy layer for fall. Perfect for coffee and farmers market. I might wear it under a shell this winter too, on mild days.
I ordered the Flair Hooded Jacket after falling in love with the Marmot Solitude Hooded Fleece Jacket. I ordered a Small in the Persian Red color; I typically wear a x-small or small in clothing and my size small Solitude fleece fits perfectly. The Flair I ordered turned out to be super tight and short in the torso and sleeves. I'm 5'6" and weigh 130 w/ 34C... EVERY part of this fleece looked over stuffed with my body; I looked 20 pounds heavier.
speaking of stuffed, the Persian Red color is pretty awful. The high-pile fleece combined with the mentioned color made me look like a stuffed animal. Think Elmo. The color is much brighter than depicted in the photo (at least on my screen...)
long story short, I may order this fleece again but in another color and a larger size . I suppose I'd err on the side of going a size up... If it wasn't for the price, I'd order another Solitude Fleece.
The jacket is very fitting. It's soooo warm and light weight it feels like your wearing a blanket outside without the heaviness. I'm sooooo glad I have this jacket it's perfect for Los Angeles Weather. And on windy days. I bought the last one of the two left, thank goodness!!!!!
How wind resistant (or not) is this jacket? I'm looking for something that can be worn alone over a t-shirt and with a shell if the weather gets really cold. I'm NOT looking for something that can take 25-40mph winds... but I want something that will do well in a mild breeze. Love the plushness but want to be sure it's warm enough.
I just bought this jacket and I go to work early mornings and leave work late at night and it does keep me warm especially when it is windy I found. I say it is a wonderful lightweight jacket, and I'm glad I have it.
This is the first fleece I've ever actually purchased (shock, I know) but I do have a Marmot rain jacket that's served me well for years. I should've known the fleece would be just as awesome! Its super soft and comfy and is surprisingly warm out in the Denver snow, considering that its not even an official "snow jacket." I have it in bright red, which is pretty flashy; I like the color but the brightness means that wearing it in an even slightly more formal situation, like to work or to a happy hour, might be inappropriate. Another thing - I'm 5'1 and 106 lbs so I got the XS, which is my usual size in most clothing. It fits really well over a long- or short-sleeved t-shirt but would probably be a little snug over anything much thicker. I'm still happy with it, but next time I'll go for a S instead.
I got this awesome fleece on SAC and love it! Its the perfect weight for chilly mornings or evenings in the warmer months of the year and also adds warmth when layered under a softshell or down jacket in the winter. I bought an xs in it and it is well fitted, I am 5'2 and 100lbs. If you plan to just wear it over a tank or t-shirt I'd stick with your normal size in marmot, but if you want to put several layers under it, size up!
This jacket is great for everything! I wear it outdoors, to school, to go shopping, and at home around the house. Its so soft and comfortable, the perfect fit for me. All my friends now want one.
I am a size 8 and ordered this jacket in a Medium. It fits like a glove that is tooo tight and I was expecting it to fit looser. I re-ordered it in a large and hopefully that will be a better size. The Persian Red color ROCKS! I love it.
My friend had one of these, and I liked it so much I had to get one. It's just sooo soft and comfortable. It's not a wind-resistant jacket, but perfect as an under-layer or just wearing around the house on a cool evening. It's my favorite fleece by far. It's also one of the warmest fleeces I have.
Hey,I am male, and this jacket would fit perfect (size L), except for the waist and sleeve. the sleeve is not that big of a problem, but the waist is. If I would buy an XL, the only thing, that is way to big is the hip. If there would be a rubber band or an elastic hem cord, I would buy the jacket in XL, if not, I would buy it in L. So, my questions are:1. Does this jacket have an elastic hem cord?2. Which fabric is on the inside? ( If fleece, is it brushed like the outside?)I would appreciate your help.Thank you!
I own 3 of these! 1) There is no rubber band or elastic hem cord on the bottom. The sizing is difficult to determine (so it would be best to try it on at REI stores, if you can). I'm a 5'5" female, 132 lbs, who fits into size 6-10 pants, borderline S/M shirts. A small is just right with a long-sleeve t-shirt underneath. I'd have to buy a medium if I want to put any bulk underneath it. Answer #2: Front and back fabric is the same soft fleece (not lined), except where the front zippered pockets are (they are lined inside with a thin, soft fleece-like fabric, and the back of the pockets facing your skin are nylon). It's nice to have the soft backing behind the zipper area, too. Beware: This sheds, but it washes well, and it SO worth it! I wear a different one to the office every day.
This jacket is great. It is super warm and soft, and looks good. I love that you can zip the collar up really high and cover your neck. I will warn you that it is very warm and thick, a little warmer than I was anticipating. If I wear it inside on all but the coldest days it is a bit too much. Also not really a technical fleece if you ask my opinion. Great for keeping you warm though!
Very soft and surprisingly warm! Very nicely made, just fitted and slim trim. I don't have to wear a jacket when I wore this during the west coast mild winter weather. I will definitely get more colors when they become available. Backcountry is great btw, I received my free shipping parcels in just 3 days.
If you are debating this purchase do so no longer- this jacket is super plush and so comfy you'll never want to take it off. The hood is form-fitting but not too tight, perfect for going up and staying up on a windy day. Both interior and exterior are fleece and it's like being hugged by a giant version of your favorite teddy bear. Love love love this fleece!
I live in this jacket. The hood and tall neck keep my face warm. Its a bit fitted but loose enough to layer under. Its super soft fleece but sheds a bit. Not great for windy weather but perfect for running around town in.
This jacket seems to be much larger than other Marmot jackets. I have a size small in their Furnace jacket and ordered small in this Flair jacket and it was way too large. XS would have sleeves 2 inches too short for me (small in Furnace is 1 inch too short but that's in the range of acceptable), so I had to return this. Backcountry customer service is great! Would definitely buy from them again.
I really like this fleece -- I was looking for something that would keep me warm at work and on my way to work, but would also appear to be a little more more...
