For those who feel that ultralight 2-person tents can be somewhat claustrophobic, the Marmot Firefly 2-Person 3-Season Tent trades a little bit of additional weight for extra room to move around. Designed to be a larger version of Marmot's über-popular Limelight 2-Person Tent, the Firefly features more head room and near vertical side walls for maximum comfort.

  • Polyurethane-coated floor and fly repel rain so you and your gear stay dry inside
  • Fully taped fly and floor seams prevent water from sneaking in through fabric joints
  • Window Weld waterproof window construction in the fly allows you to view outside of your tent without having to get out of your bag
  • Catenary Cut floor means the floor material curves a few inches up the tent walls to reduce direct seam-to-ground contact
  • Two doors and two vestibules give you and a partner easy entry, exit, and gear storage
  • Mesh panels fight interior condensation to help you sleep during bouts of muggy weather
  • DAC press-fit poles are easy to assemble day or night and save weight without sacrificing durability or strength
  • Reflective detailing helps you identify stealthy guy-lines at night
  • Included gear loft increases your storage space and ability to organize
  • Noise-free zippers prevent waking up cranky trail partners

Here's what others have to say...

I don't see a fast pitch option for this. Can the firefly be set up in a fast pitch fashion (just the footprint, poles, and rain fly)

Great Tent Complete w/Accessories

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Marmot Firefly is a tall 2 man tent. While the floor width is pretty typical, it is the leader in headroom and length making it perfect for the taller camper or someone wanting to stash a little gear inside without having to buy a 3-person tent.
It does great in windy conditions- as long as you have the fly. But without the fly, this broad-sided tent would most likely flatten.
The included footprint and gear loft make this tent an all in one purchase with the added bonuses of a bathtub groundsheet (seam taped), stargazing-friendly mesh ceiling, two large vestibules, and stupid-simple set-up.

Buy it now.

I love this tent.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Very spacious! People say it's as if I'm in a hotel in this tent. It can fit 3 mid-sized (I'm 5'6'') people. I've used this in cold and windy mountains in the Philippines and it really keeps us warm and dry. Though a bit heavy, this will not be a problem if the load is shared between 2 people.

I love Marmot products. True value for money!

does the listed weight include the weight...

does the listed weight include the weight of the footprint and gear loft? Not sure what the difference is between 'Packed Weight' and 'Trail Weight'

Responded on

Packed weight is everything that you get when you order the tent...tent body, rain fly, poles, footprint, stakes, all the bags to put the aforementioned items in, etc. Trail weight would typically not include items like gear loft, footprint, sometimes stakes, and anything "non-essential" for using the tent. Fast-pitch weight for this tent means rain fly, footprint, and poles only.

Responded on

Laura... FWIW... Backcountry might reconsider the label "packed weight" since those words are closely associated with "packs" as in "backpacks." Maybe something like "New in Box Weight" or "Weight of Everything Included" etc.

It's kind of the Cadillac of two person

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

It's kind of the Cadillac of two person backpacking tents. It was the tallest and longest that I could find, so that you can stretch out and sit up without feeling cramped or getting your feet wet on a rainy day by touching the two layers of the tent together (ya, that is the worst, waking up with wet feet).

It also has to HUGE vestibules!

The downside is it is pretty heavy, so you don't want to backpack with this alone if you are looking for "a bit more room" than a one man tent. It is way too heavy for soloing.

Sweet Tent

This tent is great. I used it for the first time last weekend and this tent is very easy to set up. Took me about 5-10 min my first time and after that probably only about 5 min. The tent was super warm and I got it in the Alpenglow color and its great. The vestibule has a ton of space to hold my bags and I even had a little spot for my dog to sleep in.The inside of the tent had enough room for 2 people but not a lot of extra room for tons of gear. The Tent is pretty light weight and easy to pack up. I would recommend this tent to anyone that is trying to get into camping or looking for a nice upgrade.

This tent is the best tent that I have had. I am a boy scout and we go on long camping trips every month. This tent is lightweight, easy to set up, and roomy. It comes with a free footprint and gear loft. The tent is an amazing deal. If I had a color suggestion, I would suggest that you got alpenglow. That is the color that I got and it makes the tent look so good. Inside, you can sit up straight without touching the top of the tent. This tent has a lot of mesh at the bottom and on top.The window and air vent are great features of the tent. I will not be purchasing another tent for a really long time. Get this tent! It rocks!
