Here's what others have to say...

Since women don't need lightweight waterproofs so we should just buy men's (just kidding, wait, no I'm not... :) ) just wondering how the length from waist to where the legs come together is. I tried on a men's outdoor research helium pant and found that length to be way too long = caused the pants to restrict my hip flexion when going up the stairs = definitely not a good fit for going up mountains. I tried rolling up the waist to adjust this, but that made the men's small pants too short. Any idea on this marmot essence pant? I have the women's jacket and love it. Primary use is high country CO mountains and crazy long mountain racing and pacing. :)

Hey Kristin!

Try the Women's Minimalist Pant, this is a killer item and you'll love it!

Thanks, Meg! I was really hoping for the 5-6oz lightness of the other... any suggestions re: that? or do you know how the essence pants fit? very much appreciate your input. i mostly trail/mountain run and it seems silly to balk over 4oz, but if I keep the emergency kit light, I can be a bit more free with other things. :)

Nice upgrade

I have the previous model as well and I can say the new version is much better. The stretch is great. It's more durable because of it. The breathability is noticeable. I found myself wearing this as a wind pant on ridges on nice days. That was never the case before. The pant was too clammy. I can honestly say, I am very happy in spending the money for the new one. The old setup can go into the golf bag.
