Description

Protect your Eos and it will serve you well.

The Marmot Eos 1-person tent Footprint will greatly prolong the life of your Eos tent by protecting its floor from sharp rocks and other abrasives. This footprint also enables you to perform fly-only pitching. Leave the tent body at home, and pitch just the fly over the footprint to create a lightweight shelter that shaves pounds from your pack or works as an emergency rain shelter or sunshade.

footprint does not fit 2013/14 Eos 1P

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Backcountry is selling footprints manufactured in 2012. Marmot changed the dimensions of the Eos in 2013. So, if your tent was manufactured in 2013/14, this footprint WILL NOT FIT. Note: Manufacture dates can be found on all of Martmot's tents and footprints (on a little tag, sewn into a seam of the product). Details below...

After setting up the tent + footprint, it was clear that the footprint was wider than the actual tent, specifically at the head. When you place the footprint's grommets into the tent pole structure, the footprint is loose and the grommets slide off the pole structure. I contacted Marmot about it and they explained that the shape of the tent changed from 2012 to 2013/14. The head of the tent was 40" wide in 2012, but changed to 37" wide in 2013/14. This would explain why the footprint was wider than the tent at the head.

I actually purchased this footprint from another retailer first, had the same problem and returned it. So, before ordering this footprint from Backcountry I contacted them to explain the situation. They assured me the footprints they were selling 'came in on a shipment just a few weeks ago,' and so should be ones recently manufactured. Footprint arrived and it was again the wrong size (with a manufacture tag of SEP 2012) .

After talking with Marmot reps again, they thought it possible retailers might just throw all Eos footprints into one bin in the warehouse (regardless of manufacture date). So, I contacted Backcountry again and they offered to call down to their warehouse to check manufacture dates. No one ever got back to me (after contacting Backcountry multiple times via phone and live chat).

P.S. Marmot themselves also do not have 2013/14 footprints in stock, so take warning when purchasing this tent.

P.S.S. If you're only ever doing a footprint/fly set up (no tent), this footprint will work just fine.

I noticed that other retailers have the Sand colored footprint for sale as well as a Orange colored version. Do you happen to know which color matches which version (2012 or 2013/14)?

Hey,
So I just checked our current inventory of this footprint and they are all the new model, Marmot style #28400. The date of that the footprint was made will be late 2012 since they have to have them ready to ship to retailers come the spring of 2013, when the new tents were going out as well. The footprint with style 28400 measures 27"x 85" x 35" and matches the Eos tent with Marmot style # 27600. The new tent (27600) has floor dimensions of 30" x 87" x 37".

The old style of footprint for the Eos was #2999 and measured 30" x 87" x 35" and was matched with the Eos tent #2806
