The Marmot DriClime Windshirt is far more versatile, much warmer for its weight, and more packable than traditional fleece. This ever popular piece of gear has been updated for 2005. Now handwarmer pockets and CoolMax mesh pit vents add more comfort and versatility. It combines DriClime's awesome moisture transfer with a wind resistant, highly-breathable shell. It can be worn next to the skin as a wicking base layer, layered with other garments as a mid-layer, or worn alone as a low-bulk performance system.
Bottom Line: Standard issue for Backcountry.com athletes, the Marmot DriClime Windshirt is an absolute must-have.
I got both the Marmot DriClime and the Arcteryx Katabatik. The two jackets are comparable in function. The DriClime in fact felt softer and more buttery to the touch, but it lost on two points.
1) The cuff is elastic, which seemed less comfortable and less adjustable than Katabatik's hook-and-loop tape.
2) The DriClime has an open hem, whereas the Katabatik has pull cords and is hence more effective at keeping out the wind. Granted, the DriClime has a pull cord neck, but I think it's easier to keep the neck stuffed with an inner layer than it is to keep the bottom stuffed.
3) ok, style counts, too. The Arcteryx fit better. The cloth, while not as soft as the DriClime, seemed more durable. When worn in comparison, the Arcteryx did indeed seem slightly more efficient at blocking the wind and therefore warmer.
I almost didn't keep it because I have a Marmot soft shell, which is great in wind and rain. Turns out I wear it everywhere! And I didn't realize it's the same stuff my Marmot ski pants are made of that I bought last year. Both items are excellent in fairly cold weather skiing - in the teens. Excellent wind and water repellency. They are so lightweight you can't believe they are so warm. Fit is flattering. I can't wait to try the jacket in more layers (I love cold!) This is a must have for any sport out in the elements!
All I can say is I love it. This is the first time buying DriClime. I don't know what I was thinking not getting one, it's light, it keeps you warm in windy conditions and it breathes really well. I have used it for hiking and mountain biking. This should be a must on your outdoor gear list.

I didn't know when purchasing this shirt how often I would actually wear itbut it is perfect for most everything I do! Skiing, backpacking, runningit works for everything. I find the elastic on the wrist to be a bit tighter than I would like it, but that could just be meall in all a fabulous piece of clothing.
The DriClime Windshirt is a great product. It's not a miracle, but it's pretty close. Mine keeps me dry in a light drizzle, keeps me warm (most of the time) and has a nice style to it. I can wear it anywhere without feeling like a backpacking fanatic, even if I am. I like the fit as well. I'm a size 10 and the medium fit just right - not too snug, not too loose. It's a great buy for the money. I'll probably order another one soon! I'll post another review after I get back from my Colorado trip in April and report its performance in the freezing temps. (We don't get those often in Texas.)
Got this for my girl, her second (first one was appropriated by a needy person with a taste for functionality). She loves it. Wears it everywhere, can't take it off her... It's been techno-eclipsed in the last couple of years, but nothing beats its simple comfort & wearability for the price. Better for people who don't excessively perspire. One complaint: on both men's & women's versions, the sleeves are a tad short, while the body has more than ample room for additional layering, a kind of mesomorph-specific design. PS - the hoody version I wanted to buy is difficult to find.
I wear my Marmot windshirt with almost any cool to cold weather setup. It helps other layers slide over the top, and it helps you move. It also works well next to the skin. My most heavily-used (and duct-taped) piece.
I love this coat. All my friends have them and told me I would not be disappointed. It is functional, I get compliments from regular people on its looks, packs light, dries fast, and now it is my one favorite piece of clothing.
Blocks the wind, doesn't bundle up when you throw another layer on top, keeps you warm by itself (at least it does on a winter night in the Ocala National Forest).
I am an avid walker and this jacket was recommended by aboutwalking.com. It is truly an excellent choice for active wear. Cuts the wind, keeps you warm but not too hot. Highly recommend it!
I have had this jacket for almost a year now and it is the one piece of clothing that goes with me everywhere. It is light and packs down to nothing. It isn't too hot when it is just a little cool out and keeps you warm when it is cold (not freezing mind you). I travel a lot and take it with me everywhere and I have climbed with it too! I cannot recommend it enough.
This is a superb all-purpose jacket. Its a great, breathable wind blocker from fall running to cross country skiing. Its also light and compressible for traveling.
I bought this for my girlfriend for Christmas as she loved mine so much. It was just put to the test during a week in the Wasatch skiing and boarding, it performed flawlessly for her and is her new favorite piece of gear!
This is my third gift purchase of a DriClime Windshirt. It all started with a request for a "windbreaker" from my young grandson (8). He loved it so much, I followed up with a second grandson (21), and now, the young grandson's mother. The Windshirts have been worn in the mountains, at Disneyland, along the ocean, and in the Northwest and Central California. They have been used for hiking, walking, playing outside, going to school, and just about any other outside activity imaginable. Both grandsons and my daughter-in-law give the jacket rave reviews in wind, rain and/or cool weather. Now it's Gramma's turn to own her very own Windshirt, but not before I purchase another one or two gifts for a Windshirt "Family". Thank you for your great customer service.
