The revolutionary Marmot DriClime Side Zip Pant is constructed with Marmot's lightweight and breathable DriClime material. This pant is designed for endorphin junkies who don't let a little cold weather deter them from their daily quest for a higher heart rate. The Side Zip Pant is a must for cold weather athletes that need to warm up before a race or train in cold conditions. Nylon shell front and back, fully lined with DriClime. If you're familiar with DriClime, you know how amazing it is. If you're not, what makes it so special is how warm it keeps you for being so light. Articulated knees, an elastic waist band, and full side zips make this an excellent option for mountaineers looking for a lightweight, versatile option for their legs.
Bottom Line: DriClime is one of the most technically innovative and highest performing fabrics in outerwear today.
These are one of the best pieces of kit i have. lightweight and windproof. A thin fleece liner on the inside adds warmth when its really cold and means you can wear them alone if you just need the wind proofing. the zip goes the full length of the leg and has a storm flap on the inside.
The leg bottoms are elasticated which i love as i use them most for running or climbing/mountaineering. This also helps keep you warmer. The fit is also really good - most pants i find are really baggy rounds the legs which is annoying for high activity pursuits. the elastic waistband and drawstring work great and the legs fit well and the articulated knees give you good movement.
It may sound too good to be true but i would recommend these to anyone. note though that they are water resistant - not water proof. I take my water proofs on the mountain too if there is a chance of a real down poor.
My wife and I both wear Marmot DriClime pants for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and cold weather hiking and running. We probably use them somewhere around 100 times a year. Just like their sibling, the classic DriClime Windshirt, these pants are truly a superior piece of gear. The inner microfleece feels great and provides surprising warmth. The outer nylon is tough and fairly water resistant. They move well during high aerobic activity. On very cold days we wear some sort of tights underneath and on very wet days or for very wet activities we switch to Gore Tex pants. But, overall, these pants are amazingly versatile, durable, and comfortable. Treat yourself!

Function over fashion is what comes to mind when I think of these pants. I live in snow country and use them when I walk the dogs or for skiing on our mountain. They keep you toasty warm as long as the temperatures are not too cold (below 10). They are not form fitting but work great for what I like to use them for....
I was hoping these would be The Pants for xc-skiing, but I sent them back. I don't understand why another reviewer said these have a "Nice flattering slim fit" -- are we talking about the same pair of pants? On me (5'6", 120 pounds, size Small), they were huge in the hips & thighs -- gargantuan. As in, looking like the Michelin Man. Also, the fabric is noisy. Zippers seemed like they could slide down accidentally fairly easily. (I'd love to know if the DriClime Stretch pants have the same awful fit or would be better.)
While I have no doubt these pants are fantastic for winter sports they also have other applications. I'm rehabbing an injured hip. The side zip pants let me dress for work, skip the car and walk a couple of miles to the job in cooler temperatures, which was a dream come true. The only thing I would change - at all - would be greater flexibility with sizing.
do any of you women know of rain pants that are cut full for us who have short & stocky legs. I need a good pair of pants to walk my dogs in the rain but most seem to be cut slim....thanks
Hey Diane, see the pair I got. I walk my dogs in the rain, or slide depending on terrain. These are full legged, easy to get in and out of and I'm not petite.
The driclime pants are not too hot, not too cool. They work very well on winter hikes and backpacks, allowing for adjustable warmth and coolness with those side zips. They also zip far enough up to allow for snowshoes to be donned and doffed.
An additional surprise was how nice they worked for winter bicycling. They cut the wind, provided just the right amount of warmth and flexed nicely. No stiff, awkward fabric to inhibit movement.
I was looking for pants that were tough, flexible and light. These pants fill the bill perfectly but I would recommend getting a pair of the long johns with them, then you'll be set.
Does anybody know the inseam length on the DriClime Side Zip pants (women's) and how the Marmot sizing runs? My Precip Full Zip rain pants are great in the length and hip but a bit tight in the waist. Thanks!
I am 5'7" and about 125lbs. The medium pants fit great in length and are a little loose in the waist. There is a cinch cord in the waist so it is adjustable. These are great pants.
I LOVE MY PANTS! I BOUGHT THEM FOR RAIN WHEN I DO SEARCH AND RESCUE BUT I ALSO USE THEM IN THE MORNING WHEN I TAKE CARE OF THE DOGS AND IT IS A LITTLE CHILLY. THEY ARE VERY COMFORTABLE.
These pants are the BEST!!! I love them! They are great for 14,000 footers as a base layer in winter. Plus, I've slept in these and they are great for easy turning around in your sleeping bag. You don't get caught and struggle. One time, the temp. fell to 16 degrees and very very cold. I was car camping and put on everything I had to keep warm. The DriClime on top of mid weight long johns did the trick. I was beginning to think I was in trouble, as I was shivering uncontrollably!! The DriClime's probably kept me from hypothermia!!
These are GREAT pants! I wear them to sleep in during snowy winter months on Mt. Shasta in Northern California. I also wear them to sleep in on Mt. Diablo in Northern California--there is no snow but it is very cold! They are easy to wear in the bag as you can roll around and not get stuck against the sides of the sleeping bag. I wear them also under my Gore-Tex bibs climbing Mt. Shasta. The wicking is great and I stay dry even when perspiring. I highly recommend these to anyone who wants to be snuggly warm and comfortable.
I got these for my wife in preparation for a walking tour in England. She tried them on, and now she wants to wear them all the time. They're very warm and comfortable. Sorry, can't speak to the weather protection capabilities yet.
I use these for downhill and cross country skiing. I needed a full side zip pant to wear over my race suit (hard to find). These are incredibly warm for how light they are. The best in all but the coldest (single digits) temps with just light long johns underneath. Probably great in sub-zero with polar fleece underneath. Nice flattering slim fit. Only downside is they don't zip over my ski boots and now the price is 20 bucks less than I paid a year ago! But I would still by them in an instant. Warm and dry with great wind resistance. Very comfortable fit. Excellent buy.
These were even warmer than I thought. So they're probably great, if that's what you want. I may decide to buy some more for the winter. The material & quality was really nice - even soft.
