The Marmot Men's DriClime Jacket has been praised for years as one of the most versatile pieces of clothing you can wear in the mountains. Its combination of a wicking lining and a windproof breathable nylon shell make it an excellent choice for a mid-layer on winter trips or a stand-alone top in nicer weather. The DriClime Jacket weighs only 14 ounces and compresses well when it's time to stash it in your pack; though it's not likely to be in there very often.

Bottom Line: Experience the incredible versatility of the Marmot DriClime Jacket on your next trip into the mountains.

Multi-talented jacket

This is not only a wind jacket, it serves well as a mid- or base layer. It has a loose enough fit in the large (I fall right on the line between medium and large sizing guidelines - 5'11" 170 lbs, 42" chest) to fit comfortably over a 100 weight fleece for cold, dry temps when not moving, but not so baggy that I can't wear it under a soft shell as a fleece replacement. Over a t-shirt between the Driclime jackets wind-proofness and water resistance, (light drizzle proof, for a time) and the water resistance of a decent soft shell, it would take a lot to get one cold and wet. The only thing that stops this from being a soft shell is the nylon shell doesnt' seem overly abrasion resistant, and breathability is limited. The driclime lining wicks very well and is soft on the skin, so you don't get too clammy. The chest pocket is ample, as are the hand pockets. If you want zips on the hand pockets, you'll have to upgrade to the Marmot Catalyst. Between the front zip, the pull cord for tightening the neck, the hem pull cord, and the elastic cuffs that can be pushed up the forearms, there's so much flexibility for temp control that this jacket is almost indispensable on any trip.

Dri Clime--Indispensible

By:

This jacket is in my pack all year long--it's perfect for cool fall and spring days, and as a 2nd layer on all but the coldest winter days--It breathes very well so your base layer stays dry and sheds light precip and snow. Blocks wind too. Throw a softshell on top when it gets real nasty.
Sizing is right on--not too tight--just right--
Great piece of equipment

DriClime Jacket - Men's

I am 5'10' and got the large, could have gone with the medium. The advantage of the larger size is that you can wear the jacket over more than one layer. I will probably get a medium too! If it were up to me I would change the name of the jacket from DriClime to "THE PERFECT LAYER". Love the napoleon pocket; it's great for quick access for misc items.
I can't really think of any improvements, the Marmot DriClime Jacket is perfect!

DRIClime

I have had the jacket for a year, one of my buddies talked me into getting it after him giving testimonials about river guiding in a snow storm when other guides put on their down he reached for the driclime. Amazing jacket!! It is so versatile, blocks out extreme cold and wind to a chilly summer night camping jacket. Layers wonderfully, I love it and plan to get another, great colors! I find my wife steeling it to use when she jogs summer mornings. Fits true to size. Oh and if it gets wet it dries super fast!

Must have!!!

If you own only one jacket, this should be the one you buy. I own the "windshirt" version of this jacket. I summited The Grand with it as well as Baxter's Pinnacle. I climb/hike hard; and I sweat a lot. And the awesome thing about these jackets is that no matter how much you sweat, you never feel wet. NEVER. It maintains a very even temp as long as you keep moving. What's weird is that it insulates like a 200 or 300 weight fleece because it is windproof and the dual fabric layers creates a loft effect that keeps your temp even. The driclime fabric pulls the moisture out and to the outer layer, which then evaporates the extra moisture. The issue I have with the windshirt is no drawcord at the waist and collar...which this jacket version addresses perfectly. I have been skiing with it the last week and unless the weather is really cold (like 15 degrees or colder with snow and wind), you don't need a shell. A base and a mid layer with this jacket is a really balanced system. It's really great for touring/cross country skiing or any other high aerobic sport. Can't say enough good things about this piece. I treat it like a mid-weight fleece...that's truly windproof. Cool part is it packs down to a grapefruit and is half the weight of a similarly effective fleece. I plan to us it to do the Haute Route this April. I use a Craft zip-T base, a Patagonia R1 Hoody, then the Marmot DriClime Jacket over the top. If the weather gets bad, I will add an Arc'Teryx Alpha SV over all that. If we get stuck in REALLY bad weather, I have a Mont-Bell Alpine Down Jacket to save my butt. Hope this helps...good luck!!!

Great all-around winner

By:

This is my second DriClime jacket, for I purchased the original version in 2002 after seeing that it won an Outside Gear of the Year award, and it has lived up to its billing. My first jacket has traveled with me everywhere, including a week long hike of the Haute Route. It is great for about 35 degrees and up (if reasonable active). The new features of hand pockets and adjustment pulls are great, even if they add a few ounces. I would highly recommend this as a durable fleece substitute (with the benefit of water repellency).
