Great Choice for a trip and around town

This coat was the perfect choice for an extended European vacation. I usually wear a large: the medium was tight across my broad shoulders but allowed a packable weight vest or my Patagonia puffer underneath. The skirt of the jacket first seemed too broad for slender hips, but I found it allowed me to use a longer stride, which was often good - as in sprinting through twisting streets in Heidelburg to catch my bus. I could also wear it out to dinner with a skirt and heels. I like the heavier fabric than the new version of the jacket, - the tissue thin fabrics are great for weight control in a suitcase, but look like tissue to me - and I like the subdued plaid - too subdued to see until up close. I also used the inside pockets - protection against pickpockets in the train stations. Highly recommend.

What weather is this appropriate for? I am going to be living in Prague and traveling throughout Eastern Europe From January to April. I need something for the coldest weather that will keep me warm in wind, rain, and snow.

The Marmot Destination Novelty Jacket would be a good option for what you are describing. It sounds like you need something 3/4 length, w/hood, waterproof or highly water resistant, and insulated. This would be a good fit for you but I would also encourage you to look at the Arc'Teryx Patera, Patagonia Tres Down, Patagonia Northwest, and Norrona /29. Any of those would be excellent options.
