Hope for sun, dress for rain.

Climb aboard the puddle-jumper wearing the Marmot Women’s Destination Jacket and get from one rainy city to another while you stay as dry as the chicken in your in-flight meal. Seattle to San Fran can be a bumpy flight, but when you exit the terminal, the two-layer waterproof breathable MemBrain fabric and fully taped seams will keep you comfortable while you hail a cab as the entire Pacific falls from the sky. The DriClime-lined collar and chin guard are a great place to hide your face when the cab driver wants to talk about the weather, while the supply of pockets holds enough nick-knacks to keep you distracted from the awkward through-glass conversation. If you’re lucky, by the time you get to your destination, the sun will be out and you can zip-off the Destination’s hood and store it in the internal hood pocket.

Great style & fit, but tad too long

Nice slim style. The Small fit just loosely enough to layer underneath - though for heavy sweaters I would need a Medium (my measurements below for reference). I'm 5'8" and the bottom came to less than 2" above my knee which had the effect of shortening me, especially in black. If you don't mind the Trinity look, then this jacket is great.

bust: 34-35"
waist: 26-27"
hip: 36-37"
inseam: 33-34"
arm: 31" (approx)

An update to my review: I decided to keep the jacket only to find there's a huge design flaw - exposed velcro running the height of the jacket on the left side means the left sleeve gets chewed up quickly (pilling, ratty looking) from rubbing against it. Really disappointing at this price point.

is this insulated at all? or mostly a spring coat-- i need a warm winter coat for all the recent snow storms in the northeast.

Responded on

Not insulated at all. This is simply a waterproof/breathable nylon outer shell with a polyester taffeta lining.

That said, you would be able to layer warmer clothes under this, which would give you flexibility and weather protection.

Awesome Coat! Really Small!

I love this coat. Bought a size small...I'm a short waisted 5'4 kinda gal at 128. It was snug, but fitted. Until I washed it (cold, line dry). Then, it did not fit at all. Kudos to Backcountry for taking it back...over the chat line, and sending me the next size. short....Backcountry rules, order a size up if you are on the fence, and you'll be still lovin' your coat post washing.

Is this jacket wind proof at all? The description doesn't state it is ... I'm looking for a jacket in this style that has water and wind resistance (or water and wind proof). thanks!

The Destination is made out of Marmot Membrain and is both 100% waterproof and 100% windproof.

Is there a drawstring on the hood of the destination jacket to cinch it tighter in the rain? Also, can you comment on it's breathability?

Best Answer Responded on

Yes. You can see the "cinch" on the top, that will let you snug it down quite nicely to keep the rain out. Here is the breakdown on Marmot's breatheablility. M2 shells (which these are) are the ideal balance between weather resistance, breathability and thermal protection. They are appropriate for a wide range of aerobic use in moderate to cold conditions.

So you should be warm and have good breathability with this one.

Hi~ Does the Destination have a 2-way zipper? Is it machine wash & dryable? ~Thanks!

Best Answer Responded on

yes this has a 2way zipper. It is also machine washable, but as far as drying goes, you should hang dry this unless the instructions say differently, it just prolongs the life of the jacket.

Does the sizing allow for layering - like a close fitting fleece & shirt.

Responded on

Yes, this is more of a loose-fitting jacket, appropriate for layering, it's not body-tight.
