Lightweight, protective, and innovative.
Marmot's Datum Sleeping Bag combines light-and-lofty down insulation with protective synthetic insulation for backpacking in freezing temperatures. Spirafil synthetic insulation stays warm if it gets wet, and Marmot treated the down with Down Defender to help it retain its lofty warmth in moisture-riddled environments.
The Datum's shell has a DWR treatment to shed moisture in boggy tents. Both the hood and footbox have three-dimensional designs to ensure a snug-yet-specific fit. The full-length zipper features two-way slider so you can unzip the bottom for ventilation. Marmot added an internal stash pocket to keep your electronics warm.

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
This bag has been great. I went to the high Uinta's and combined with my pad I slept comfortably. The temperature at night was below freezing and I stayed warm all night. The bag compresses well and is light compared to other 0 degree bags I've used. I would recommend this bag if you plan to camp year round.
Super solid and warm!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Female; 5' 9"; I run cold; Purchased the "Regular" size.
The bag fit perfectly and kept me warm on a 15 degree Fahrenheit night. It's nice to have the internal pocket as it keeps my flashlight and gloves warm. The bag itself maintains its loft nicely, and packs down into a reasonable size (just as described). Zipper is solid and good quality, though it's easy to catch some fabric when zipping up.
