Not a fan for the price

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought this jacket because it was incredibly thin and lightweight and claimed to be waterproof. Wore this in light-ish rain for ~1.5 hours. Given that it's supposedly waterproof, my friend (who did not have waterproof anything with her) put her phone in this jacket's pocket to prevent it from getting wet. An hour later when I gave her her phone back, the phone was very wet. Needless to say, this jacket is not waterproof. If you're considering it anyways, I found the jacket to run short. I'm 5'4" 130lbs wear a small in Icebreaker, medium in North Face. The medium in this fit much better than the small.

Be wary

I bought this jacket and loved it for its weight and feel, but it soaks through after about 30 minutes of rain and 3 months after I bought it, the lining delaminated. I think it is made for a light mist occasionally. Of course, Marmot gave me a credit for the jacket. But, I would be wary of buying this jacket.

Responded on

For the best in waterproof rain wear, look for something made with GoreTex fabric. There are many brands who offer some of their garments made with this great material.
Patagonia makes some of their jacket with this; a friend of mine has Patagonia's Primo Down (of course it's a winter coat) which is totally warm, breathable, and actually waterproof (important for melting snow and drizzle.
Surprised about the quality issue for Marmot! Great that you got credit. B.C. is super great about returns/keeping there customers happy, and coming back!

Marmot Crystalline - ultra light, ultra comfort

My favorite features of this Crystalline jacket are its' lightness & simple styling. Too many times I have been out trail running or hiking when unexpected weather hits. This is the easiest piece to throw on at times of need, and you may even forget you're carrying it b/c it's so light. Great reliability, movement & awesome breathability.
