Description

Tackling a big mountain this ski season requires the Big Mountain.

You're on top of a powder-capped peak with a fresh dump to cruise all the way down, and the Marmot Men's Big Mountain Jacket is there to keep you dry through it all. A MemBrain FusionDri membrane with fully taped seams boasts wonderful waterproof protection, and the DriClime mesh has superior moisture wicking abilities to keep you dry when you work up a sweat. And PitZips are there to let a bit of steam out when you reach the bottom of your intense ride.

The Big Mountain has a nylon shell that's as durable as it is stretchy. It features a powder skirt that you can zip-off for alpine ascents. Its hood cinches tightly across your head, and the laminated wire brim stays out of your eyesight. Water-resistant zippers cover the front and all the pockets of this jacket so you're better protected than most waterproof protected jackets, and adjustable cuffs and hem seal out the cold and keep your warmth in. DriClime lining in the collar and chin guard keep your neck and chin nice and comfortable.

Nice looking jacket

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

Jacket looks solid but I had to return it because it was a bit small. I've always been wearing an XL but the XL for Marmot seems to run small in many of the jackets I've tried on.

The jacket seemed great, I just wished it would have fit me!

Impressed!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Really like the jacket! Blocks the wind nicely and with a couple of layers holds up to some of the coldest days ive been on the slopes. Once I start moving, the jacket does a great job keeping the heat in. Contructively, the hood is a little constrictive but does work well with a helmut.

Best Jacket I've Worn

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small

Amazing jacket that, on a day where base and summit temps differed greatly, was able to regulate body temp extremely well. Arm vents a big and work very well. Material seemed bullet-proof and was tested pretty quickly when I took the business end of a tree branch in the bicep. Expecting to see a huge hole in the jacket, I found zero damage to the jacket. I was amazed.
Regarding fit, if you plan to have mid-layer, go up a size from the size chart. I'm 6'1" 175lbs, 33" waist, 40" chest, 34" sleeve - this fit into the M category if the Size Chart, but the L fit perfectly. I tried a M size jacket on in a store and the sleeves were too short so that confirmed it. Great jacket - excited to get many more turns in it.

Awesome jacket!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Have used this jacket in a variety of conditions so far and it has held up in all of them. On a rainy day on the mountain, it kept me warm and dry. On a cold, windy day I stayed warm and comfortable. I have yet to find anything bad with this jacket. I would recommend it to anyone. A really great shell jacket.
