Bring the warmth and leave the weight behind when you pack the Marmot Men’s Baffin Insulated Jacket. Designed for lightweight missions in wet, alpine terrain, the Baffin’s PrimaLoft Sport insulation, which provides warmth even when wet, makes it an ideal choice for belaying at the crags or as a mid-layer on alpine routes or backcountry ski tours.

Bottom Line: Lightweight insulation for any cold mountain mission.

Great Jacket!

Well, i've been looking for a versitile, insulated jacket for quite some time but was never able to find exactly what i want. This jacket seemed to fit the bill better than most and i have to say i'm very happy with my purchase. The jacket is extremely light and long in the torso and arms, which i like. I am 6' tall 200lbs and it fits me like a glove! The angle wing design really works. I can do just about anything with my arms without the jacket riding up.

The best part about the jacket is its versatility. It can be worn as a top layer. I use it skiing with a medium weight thermal underneath and am toasty warm even in temperatures in the teens. Or you can layer a shell over top of it. It will compress to your body and feel like a mid weight fleece.

The only two complaints i have is that like most have said, the outer material is a little too shiny for me. Also the outer layer seems to be a little thin. I'm not sure how it will hold up over time. I have had no issues with it yet but time will tell.

Overall, i love this jacket and have gotten many compliments on it. It's cut athletically so if you're in any kind of shape at all, it makes you look super fit! Great buy and would recommend it to anyone!!!

Pukey grey, but trim, light, easy to move in

SUPER lightweight, and good but not outstanding warmth for the weight. (There are some cold spots, and you will be cold in 50-degree slightly windy weather unless you are being quite active.)This jacket has a somewhat trim, longer fit. (The Large size is good for a 6', 178-lb, long-armed (35") body with plenty of length to spare in the sleeves (don't you love Marmot?!?)).I got the gargoyle grey after I returned a Marmot Zeus in the same color because I was allergic to the down. I would have to say the gargoyle grey fabric on the Baffin is shiny/plasticy/synthetic in comparison. It looks like a Hefty Steel-Sak garbage bag, and there is nothing hip or attractive about the greenish-yellow "accent color" that looks like a garbage bag tie and cements the trash-bag look. The fabric (which looks like sleeping bag fabric) gets crushed/wrinkled quickly and doesn't look sharp. Maybe that's the flipside of it being so lightweight. My dig on the gargoyle grey color is not at all true for the Marmot Zeus... That jacket looked gRRReat in gargoyle and the green was a very pleasing accent. Anyway, color aside it's still a nice jacket and very lightweight, not bulky. It is not nearly as warm as the Zeus.

Great Warmth for Weight

By:
December 26, 2009

Very warm in very high winds with temps in the 30s.
I should have ordered black. Large fits my 6' 180 pounds perfect.
For other manufacturers I would give it a five. As a marmot it is a 4.

If it had someone else's label on it, you would have given it a 5? Huh?
