There's no road like a Backroad.

Finding the inspiration to take the long way home has never been easier now that you have the Marmot Backroad Jacket. Sure, it'd be easy to take the same ol' bearing that you always do, but with the Backroad's soft, warm fleece keeping your core extra cozy, the thought of exploring a different route is all too inviting. Wear it on it's own and take the bite out of a chilly day, or layer it under a waterproof breathable shell for maximum protection from the elements.

Warm, Comfortable, Wearable all the time

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: Runs large

Bought this for my boyfriend who uses it near everyday - especially when going on our daily 3 mile walks. He says it's very warm and comfy. It looks great on him too! Highly recommend it!

    Becoming my favorite jacket!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

i've worn this jacket almost everyday since it arrived, but haven't put it thru' the wringer yet! I know I will in time!(If the weather is not too cold, then I wear one of my two Marmot Strides.)

I love this jacket! It is warm, fits well (I just returned my more expensive year-old Front-Range Fleece that i RARELY WORE because it was too tight around the armpits and the seams in the arms just irritated the heck out of me and the left collar kept sticking up to tickle my neck whenever it wasn't zipped-up completely!) and is sooooo darn comfortable! The material is super 'feelgood' and there is an extra inside chest pocket on the right side as well. The collar stays down when not totally zipped -up which I REALLY appreciate! Add to that the reinforcement on the elbows and this jacket is A+++ functional and dare-i-say (?) quite stylish!

Definitely not waterproof from the looks of it, but then i'd wear my Precip rain-gear in the rain over this (or the Stride) depending on the temp.

Last thing... love the slate grey color!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

This is probably the most cozy jacket I have ever owned. It's like a combination of a fleece and a sweater. It's fits great but it still allows you to wear a long sleeve shirt underneath (like I do at work). It looks nice enough for work casual and around the house. It also works great under your coat as an additional insulation layer.

    Good warm casual sweater

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

purchased this to be a sweater for around town. Its fit is very slim/athletic with long arms as the elastic comes all the way down to the wrist. I am 6'4" with long arms and an XL is a good fit. It is very true to color of the website and thicker than it looks. Good for wear in the snow around town but still functional enough to be used as a mid-layer if the weather turns bad quick while traveling. Best use would be international travelers who need something warm but still looks presentable.

    Fantastic all-purpose jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this jacket knowing I needed something of a hybrid between a rugged outdoors jacket and something I could rock around town and to the office. This fits the bill 100%. Warm, super comfortable, and easy to layer, with numerous pockets for phone, wallet, keys, etc., and it looks great too (style points). Marmot does it again!

    Marmot Backroad Fleece Jacket

This jacket is awesome for a winter jacket. Though not waterproof it is very warm and rugged. The density of the fleece lining and the ruggedness of the exterior make it for a very warm jacket. I like the chest pocket because its actually two pockets one in front of the other. There is no liner behind the zipper to insulate your neck/chin on cold days. So you feel the zipper on your neck when its fully zipped.

Finally! From the slopes to office

I am an avid outdoorsman. I ski, rock climb, hike, mountain bike, kayak.. Well, you get it. Bottom line: I look for gear and clothing that work. I don't by names, I buy quality. I look at design, materials, form and function. That being said, I have been looking for a jacket that could hold up to the rigors of my play time as well as pull double duty in a business casual setting. Oh yeah and not be a clone.. you know who I am talking about! Well here it is. This jacket hits the mark dead on! I have it in black so it goes with pretty much anything I throw with it. I am in sales and make numerous sales call to "blue shirts" and "white shirts" as well. I feel comfortable with either in this jacket. It is great on style, warmth, and build. So if you are looking for a sharp looking A-Z type "jacket" here it is.
I am 6'0 205# have VERY wide shoulders and wear a 34 Levi's 501 jean - The Large fits perfect!
I am new to Marmot, but would definitely buy again.

I am the exact same size as you and Marmot gear in size large always fits perfect. Once you own a peice of marmot wear you figure out why it's worth the price. I own about 6 or 7 marmot items and all work as designed, are quality built, and fit perfect.

Very interested in this jacket but have seen a few reviews saying that it runs large and the sleeves are long. I definitely prefer to wear a "slim" medium. Boxy or full-cut mediums look terrible on me. I'm 5'9", 165lbs, and built on the slimmer side. My question is.......what size? Medium or small? Thanks for any input!
