These gloves suck!!!!!! Don't buy them, don't waste your money. Marmot website advertise these gloves to be waterproof which they are not. Your finger tips will freeze because it's made of thin plastic/rubber. I have old $20 pair of gloves that works better then these piece of shits.
Weird Sizing

Material on these is great, palms are fantastically grippy. They also have great dexterity. They are warm and well constructed. I have two big complaints, first no pre-curved fingers. Come one they are meant for climbing, where you are holding tools or grabbing things, why aren't they pre-curved!. Second is the sizing different for the gloves. Normally large Marmot gloves fit me wonderfully, but not these. It is like Marmot overly shrunk them in an effort to make a tight fitting glove out of material that does not really stretch. It is hard to make a full fist in my large pair and I am worried I am going to blow out a seem on the thumb sometime when I tighten my hand to fast.

I'm looking for a lightweight glove for skiing and mountaineering- so I need it to be fairly warm (no frostnip at 12,000' in 20 degrees with 20mph of wind), very water resistant, good for PNW Cascade climbing in mixed wet snow/rain/etc. Think this glove would work for me?

The Amphibian glove is a softshell glove designed for technical ice and mixed climbing. It has a breathable windproof and water resistant shell, but is not water proof. Best use is for someone looking for low bulk breathability and dexterity in active conditions.

Bought these based on reports if nice grippy palms. Totally agree. What suprised me was my hands stayed pretty warm in mid 20's weather.
Realize they are designed for mixed climbs, but The great grip allowed me to relax a bit more on pure ice, and kept my hands warmer than I expected.
The rubber fingertips are a bit weird at first, but they work. They really are like soft shells for your hands.
Worth a try!!!
Love the Amphibian gloves

Two days after getting the gloves did a backcountry 200 ft ice climb in snow and wet conditions. There were four of us climbing and I was the only one who didn't get the screaming barfies and soaked hands. I am not a person with super warm hands, but I thing the ability to keep a relaxed grip and work quickly with the screws and road paid off big time.

Mine have been great on all counts. My hands tend to run cold all the time. These gloves have kept me plenty warm. They come water resistant but not proof. I got them plenty wet and they never leaked but treated them with Nikwax and now water beads off of them very well. Also, my gloves have endured extreme punishment! These will turn into your best friends for sure......mine have!Hope that helps.
Highly recommended

These gloves are perfect for me. I have short fingers and they fit perfectly. I didn't want them for really cold weather, but for walking in windy and rainy weather. They're perfect for that. They are beautifully made and worth every penny - the leather palm has a great grip and I love them for driving.

How do these gloves fit? Specifically I am concerned with too much space in the fingertips; I've found that the Marmot Glide glove works well for me, is the cut on this one similar?

Answer: In my opinion the fingers are on the short side and also the design of the fingertip was also unique which may have something to do with it (less wasted space to push fingers into). Hope that helps a little...Additional: I'm usually an XL in gloves. I tried these in Size L because I really liked the specs and L was the largest size I could find ANYWHERE... Although I normally wear XL, sometimes if I borrow size L gloves they are a little tight in finger length, but do-able. With the amphibians in size L I could barely close my fingers into a fist. agreed i normally wear a size L but in these i wear an XLUpdate 12-3-08: I was fortunate to snag a pair of these in XL at the end of summer. And will say that they seem smaller than 'typical' XL gloves. Particularly on the middle and index finger lengths.
