Description

Down insulation helps your young explorer stay warm throughout his winter exploits.

You look at your little Sir Edmund Hillary and wonder whose genes are responsible for his extremely adventurous nature. In the backyard, he's built his own Mount Everest and is attempting to summit his suburban-sited peak. It's a good thing he's wearing the Marmot Boys Ama Dablam Jacket since current conditions are not favorable for his summit attempt. Ultra-light fabric holds tight to the 700-fill down insulation to keep him warm as winds create a frigid eddy of snow and ice. The Ama Dablam will keep him roasty, toasty warm when he's on an imagined conquest of the Himalayas, waiting for the bus, or getting pummeled in a snowball fight.

The shell consists of ultra-light downproof fabric treated with DWR to help water bead up on the jacket surface. Inside the jacket is 700-fill down, treated with Down Defender. Down, a mix of feathers and plumules, traps air so body heat doesn't escape and cold air doesn't come in. When wet, the feathers collapse in a soggy mess, no longer able to trap air and insulate. Marmot's Down Defender technology helps down retain loft, and thus insulating abilities, when exposed to moisture. Between the DWR finish on the face fabric and Down Defender feathers inside the jacket, your young prince has ample time to seek shelter from an onslaught of wintry weather before falling victim to the cold and wet.

An elastic drawcord hem seals in precious warmth, and a wind flap behind the front zipper makes certain no wind sneaks between zipper teeth. The zipped hand-warmer pockets are lined with soft fabric to help warm you son's paws when he's lost his gloves, or just forgot them, or something like that. He's wearing the Ama Dablam — isn't that enough?
