Gorgeous, well fitting great jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I want to clarify about the sizing of this jacket, since I personally read some reviews informing that they bought an XL and they are about same height, weight as me. I'm around 187 cm tall, weighs 95 kg (112 cm chest and 98 cm waist aprox work out) and a Large is the perfect fit, with ample room for layering (e.g base layer, fleece and puffer jacket and without losing any mobility or felling discomfort. I will use this jacket primarily for wet rainy weather, hiking or trekking or for everyday wear. By the way the jacket is made of Gore tex pro 80 denier most rugged, which isn't listed anywhere, but is confirmed by Marmot EU. I can absolutely recommend this jacket and its becoming my new favourite hardshell and I also own an Alpha SV and Mountain Equipment Lhotse jacket.

Awesome Jacket with Full Protection!

Huge pockets, great ski pass pocket, high and soft collar to protect when temps are low, full coverage hood that fits over helmet, and made of the best fabric-gore Tex pro. I bought this in a size large to wear on single digit to negative days. I layer with ether dri clime jacket in size small and medium. Then I wear my marmot highlander down jacket. The day this picture was taken it was 11 degrees with a -10 degree wind chill with 8 inches of new snow. I was warm and comfortable to shred lots of pow!

Marmot Rain gear

Same awesome quality of gear since the company’s beginning. I have always loved the design of the hoods as they move with you rather than looking on the inside of your hood. Only change I see from my alpinist lightweight parka is a more athletic fit to where I need to order a size larger. Same Marmot quality which is second to none.

Apparent size change in XL

I have been purchasing Marmot jackets since 2006. Slight change to my physic ( lighter). Size XL in my most recent 3 jacket purchases has less room.

Solid and beautiful jacket

Solid and beautiful jacket. A bit on the heavy side but it's an acceptable compromise for use of sturdier material.

Best technical shell I've ever owned!

I have owned several high-end jackets over the last 2 decades. Phenix, Outdoor Research, Lowe Alpine, TNF, and Spyder to name a few. This is the 2nd Gore Tex Pro 3L shell. It is, by far, my favorite! Until now, I've always found myself searching for a "better" jacket. It fits very well. I'm 6'7" and 265 lbs. The XXL fits me perfectly and I have room for 2 layers underneath. I don't know that I'll ever need to purchase another jacket. The Alpinist will suit my needs for at least the next 10 years. It is very high quality construction and I can just tell I've finally found a winner.

Great Jacket but Expensive!

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:
L/G

I wish I had waited a month to get the sale price and saved $200! I really wanted the "alpinist" features that Marmot offered even though it cost twice as much as my last 3-ply Gore-Tex rain jacket. I can feel the upgrade in materials and styling. It's a little tight in arm pits but when vented feels perfect. I read the 2020 review that said the features aren't as good as the previous Alpinist in extreme conditions. But, since I don't know any better, this jacket feels like it will keep me dry and warm here in Western North Carolina's Appalachian Trail system and in Europe hiking various "Camino's" through the Pyrenees and other ranges where I felt the need for more protection from the elements in the past. I just got it so we'll see. But my friends on the trail have certainly given it the "cool" factor, the orange/red is a stand-out in the deep forests here.
