    I'm not the usual user for this type of clothing, I suppose. I purchased this jacket as a lightweight wind barrier for paragliding. In paragliding, you generally start off on a hilltop or mountain in balmy or even hot weather. However, shortly after takeoff, the conditions change pretty quickly. So, the ideal jacket is one that is light enough not to become a sauna suit when you're on the ground waiting to go, but one that cuts the wind well and can help very light layers underneath to defeat the wind chill and declining temperatures at cloudbase. The Marmot Aeris Jacket fulfilled this role perfectly for me, allowing me to soar in relative comfort. As described, the jacket is lightweight and packable. Paragliding isn't particularly tough on jackets (pants, however, are another story) so I can't say much about the jacket's durability other than it is adequate for the task for which I'm using it.
