Alaska Worthy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I live in Alaska, its still Autumn and we have plenty of snow and below 0F temperatures. I like to spend ALL my free time outdoors doing things like snowshoeing and mountaineering, backpacking and exploring. I love these mittens because they are the warmest I have found. I have Raynaud's Phenomenon in my hands and I have had 2nd degree frostbite a decade ago . I never want to go through that mess again. These mittens are water and wind resistant and have an inner mitten you can wear by itself, and that mitten is flexible enough to open and closs snaps on your backpack and I was even able to put up a tent in the mitten liners (I could not tie a boot though). They can even be used to wear to bed to keep your fingers warm for Winter camping. They are very durable and well made. If you do not like the index finger divider in the mitt , you can easily snip it, problem solved. I have to admit that I do own 2 pairs!!!! I fear if one pair gets lost or stolen - I've had some really nice mittens snatched at work (no lockers). That should tell you that these mitts are worth it, they are VITAL EQUIPMENT for people way up North, and they surpass the warmth of contenders on the market. I have worn them in actual temps colder than -40 F and for hours and was just fine. They regulate any moisture and the outer mitt is like a fortress.

Awesome

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love how flexable these are! I had a pair a few years ago and lost one mitt down a a crevase when I had to retie a boot. These are better than the competition. I live in Alaska, I spend all my free time outdoors, especially in the Winter. I backpack and camp all Winter and all my days off involve snowshoes in the Winter. I have had severe frostbite before and no longer have fingerprints. In fact such severe frostbite leads me to freezing my digits when my body is very warm. These mitts are lifesavers and they feel great. I have worn them down to -65 F below. I would not want to do that regularly because at that temp, its too cold to be outside let alone hike. I did walk from North Dakota to Minnesota and back in a day with these mitts. Still have 10 fingers. These make a great gift for your outdoorsy beloved.

Warmest and Best Mittens in the Universe!

Ski in Crested Butte CO often and the morning lows are frequently in the low single digits. I wear these every morning and as the temperatures warm up I pull the inner insulation out and ski the rest of the day with the outer liners only. These are the warmest gloves I have ever had and very practical with the removable down liner when things heat up. They are like having 5 heat packs in each hand-they are really warm. I understand now why they named them 8000 meter gloves, they truly can keep you warm no matter what adventure you are on! Get them if your hands frequently get cold, you won’t regret it!

Warm on the coldest days

I bought these for the coldest days of the ski season and they are amazing~ hands and thumbs stayed toasty warm down to -10f, didn't ski colder than that this year. The fit is true to size. These will be my go to for cold days skiing and playing outside in the Colorado winters

Best Mittens, Dumbest Name

These are the warmest hand coverings on the planet, but you get 1 star for labeling them “men’s” and not having a women’s equivalent available. Just make them unisex!

Great mittens. 4 stars needs one small improvment

They are great. The only thing i would change is to do away with the index finger being separated from the other fingers in the inside liner. Them you would get 5 stars.

Excellent Mitts with an irritating omission

These are nicely made and very warm, however, as has been mentioned in other reviews, the inner liners are not attached to the outer shell and can slip down inside when putting them on - a minor irritation. They have a small loop you can almost grab with a mittened thumb, but not quite. It might be possible to capture the inner loop with a small keyring and attach to one of the outer shell loops directly above it, but that defeats the purpose of having an easily removable liner. Come on Marmot, where's the attachment? Be it a snap loop/velcro, or whatever, it's a small detail missing from an otherwise excellent set of mitts.
