Marker incorporated top-end safety features into the Marker 12.0 Free Ski Bindings to give you all-mountain performance with immediate release in the event that a big landing just doesn’t quite work out the way you saw it in your head. With a stainless steel gliding AFD, Marker built the toe-piece to release in every direction simultaneously, so you can be sure your boot won’t catch as you tumble out. Wide wings and base interface transmit power to today’s wider freeskis, making this binding worthy of your all-mountain fatties. Because they understand big-scale powder yard sales, the folks at Marker designed a “soft-entry system” to make it extra easy to put your ski back on when you fall in waist-deep conditions. Just press the heel down part-way with your hand, then put the ski underfoot and click in.

Bottom Line: Go big and crash big. Then get your skis back on and do it again.

Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.

I have these things fitted to both my 08 Seths and 08 MSPs. I have to ay I have had no problems at all so far with them. They seem well made - yes, they are light and not all that beefy looking but I can only speak as I find. Not bad at all. I ski the whole mountain quite hard by the way.

These probably would fit but I'd stay away from the old style Marker bindings. I ripped the toe piece apart on one pair. Got a new pair and the brakes on them fell apart them. Stick with the jesters/ griffons, they're much better

Fat Ski Binding

This is a great binding for a wide ski. Transfers great feel and performance from the skier to the ski. The entry/exit system is easy as it says. Just make sure you get them mounted by someone who knows what they are doing

They definitely will work with your skis. They might not be the best bet though. I know several people that are nit happy about this binding, not 100% sure why. If you only need a 12 DIN then the Look PX 12 or Rossi SAS 120 would probably be safer bets. If you are set on Marker, then check the Griffon.

lightweight loves marker 12.0 free binding

By:
March 23, 2009

If you have fat skis and are a 92-pound munchkin like me, the 12.0 free is great! There's no other binding that is as light, uncluttered, starts at a DIN of 3, and comes with a wide brake. (The Salomon 10 ti would be great, too, but, unlike the z12, Salomon only packages it up to a 90mm brake - above that, you have to purchase a wider brake.)

The 12.0 free also has a 'soft' step-in function that makes it easy to get back into the binding if you crash in very soft snow.

I know that other reviewers have complained about the durability of this binding, but this is my second pair in 3 years and I've never had a problem.

I'm looking at purchasing the K2 Apache Rangers. Most ski packages show the Marker 10.0 binding offered with this ski. Would you recommend going with the Marker 10.0 or 12.0 binding and why? Thank you.

If you are a bigger, or more aggressive skier, than the added 2 in the DIN range will probably come in handy. If you are a more intermediate skier, or fairly light, then the M10 should suffice.

Yes it will work, But the marker 12.o is not known as a very reliable binding, I have heard of lots of problems with it. I would look else wear. maybe checkout the LOOK-ROSSIE line or the salomon STH 14 or 16, If you like markers take a look at the griffin's or jesters.

No. The brake width is for up to 110mm. Note that this will work, but at that size you will likely be dragging the brake when you carve (kind of like getting risers so ski boots don't drag since they stick out too much.) Also, when you try to lock the two skis together for storage, they aren't going to hold very tight. You're probably better off finding a binding that supports around 80mm brake width, or buying a different brake if you are truly set on this binding.
