Whether you're projecting a sport route or casting off for 15-pitches of cracks, the Mammut Vision Women's Harness holds all the gear you need and keeps you comfortable all the way. Four pre-formed gear loops easily carry a large trad rack, and the full-strength haul loop lets you trail a tag line for the descent. Mammut added its Slide Bloc buckle to provide a quick fit and eliminate the need to double back—along with the risk of forgetting to do so.

Bottom Line: Climb it all with the versatile, comfortable Mammut Vision Women's Harness.

The waist belt kept sliding around which makes me hang akwardly. The leg loops don't stay in place and would slide down while I'm climbing. The leg loops would be at my mid thigh while I'm hanging which causes my legs to uncomfortably stick up instead of down. The padding on the leg loops are uncomfortable because they would pinch my thighs causing pain while hanging.

Regarding the strap in the back that apparently hooks on with

Regarding the strap in the back that apparently hooks on with an open hook (see reviews)... could you replace this with a simple buckle or small carbiner yourself? I'm new to climbing, but that part wouldn't be weight bearing, would it? I'm thinking of this harness for my 12 year old daughter. She's 5'1" and about a size 0 waist, I think the XS would work for her. I don't want to go with a child size as I think she'd be at the upper range. I would be with her, so I could help her rehook this part if it came undone. Would be nice to find a solution for the problem though.

Those straps are not weight bearing. My concern would come from modifying the harness. If you undo any stitching on the leg loops or waist belt, you may compromise the integrity of the harness. If it's a major concern, wrap the offending straps with tape to keep them in place.

For sizing, if she's at the upper end of the kid's range, the XS should be fine.

Doesn't Sag/ Break Down

By:
March 8, 2010

I've been wearing this harness several times a week for about 15 months-- and, as described to me, this harness STILL hasn't broken down--

In my experience, most harnesses have felt comfortable at first, but eventually the materials degrade and they have begun to pinch and pull unevenly. But this harness has been designed with supportive tubing that runs the entirety of the waist belt + leg loops, top and bottom. Therefore, the tubing always supports the climber's weight, and the belt never breaks down or pinches in odd ways.

Additionally, the materials are quite durable. I've mostly been sport climbing in this, but have also taken it up desert sandstone routes: corners, chimneys, etc... and all the fabric is still intact- no fraying anywhere.

As I said above, this harness has remained as comfortable as the day I got it more than a year ago- and I've been climbing full-time throughout this period.

Comfy harness!

By:

Super comfortable, FYI: small is BIG (my normal size sm/4/6) and the waist is huge! I get laughs for the criss-crossed gear loop placement, but I wear it at the gym so no no worries.

Strap in the back always falls off

By:
August 30, 2010

I've had this harness for a few months now, and yes it's comfortable, but the strap in the back always comes off. The strap is held on by an open hook, so I can not count the number of times the harness comes out of my pack and I have to spend a bunch of time untangling it to put it back on, or even worse, many many times that I've put the harness on and have the strap comes off in the process of putting it on. It is impossible to hook that strap back on without taking off your gloves and even at that, it's hard to manage. I am trading mine in for one with buckles in the back.
