It's all you need.

The Mammut Men's Stoney Jacket pays serious attention to the details. Hard-charging freeriders, your stoney pleased-by-nothing-except-pillow-lines face will turn into a smile. The DryTech Premium shell fabric provides wind and waterproof protection in tough winter weather on the nastiest days at the resort and has plenty of stretch for unrestricted movement.

With Lycra hand gaiters, a removable hood, and a stretch snow skirt, you'll want for nothing when you're arcing fast turns and stomping huge airs. The Stoney's regular fit and pre-shaped sleeves won't constrict your motion, so you can go big. As you are turning and burning it up, dump excess heat out of the underarm zips to control your temp. Stay organized with the two spray-proof front pockets, the two chest pockets with waterproof zippers, and a ski pass wrist pocket.

  • DryTech Premium (3-layer)

  • Removable M.A.P hood
  • Removable stretch snow skirt
  • Lycra hand gaiters

well made, love the removable hood

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 11"
    Weight: 175 lbs
    Size Purchased: Medium

I bought as an outer shell for skiing and have the Stoney pant as well. I am 5'11", 175 lbs and the fit of a medium is roomy, but not too large. I can get a base layer, intermediate layer, and a down sweater under it, snugly, but can still move. Workmanship is excellent. I particularly like the removable hood as with a helmet they just get in the way. The removable powder skirt is nice as well. If not needed take it off and its out of the way. This is a great all-weather shell.

Style, Style, Style and Mammut

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large

Yea, this runs large as others have stated but the style is great and you're not going to see many of these on the slopes like Arcteryx and the other show class peoples choices. Love the removeable hood as it isn't compatible with helmets anyways. Quality craftsmanship, great price and dude you don't look like the rest of the I got have that jacket because everyone else is wearing it.

Good ski jacket, not helmet compatible

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large

Got this as a gift... one thing to note - this jacket runs big. I normally wear a Large, and in this jacket I fit in a Medium with a perfect snug fit - no arm movement restriction or sleeve creep, which surprised me. I really like the material, fit, and construction of the jacket. Major bummer when I found out on an uncomfortably cold day at the resort that the HOOD is NOT HELMET COMPATIBLE. Doesn't everyone wear helmets these days?

Everyone may wear helmets, but not everyone wears a hood. I personally despise hoods. They generally restrict head motion and impair vision. I prefer a good collar to cover my neck and a good hat. So many jackets all have hoods these days that you can't remove, so for me they sit there on your back collecting water. I would love more choices in hoodless technical jackets.

The hood is removable and the collar is fine. This jacket should meet your criteria. Since I sometimes find myself in very poor weather, a hood is essential for me, and folks buying online should know that the hood itself is not helmet compatible but the jacket certainly is.

super jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

used it for a week in temps around 30F. Didn't get a chance to wear on a snowy day. Sun all week. On some days I wore only long sleeve shirt under the jacket. Completely windproof. Got mine in Imperial Blue - looks great.
Runs a bit large. Could have gotten L. Still, I can wear a light hydration pack under the jacket and it doesn't look bulky.
