    Rough rock-riding from hereon out.

Mammut made its Rough Rider Chalk Bag super-durable with canvas-reinforced Cordura, so you can grind it against chimneys and rocks without a worry. Its thick fleece lining is sure to give you all the chalk you need for a dry, secure grip on holds (or lack thereof). The drawcord closure keeps it tightly closed so chalk doesn't snow down on your belayer, and two suspension points give you a secure fit when you pair this bag with the included waistband. A handy brush holder makes it easy for you clean up any over-chalked hold, and the zippered compartment stores your tape so you don't have to finish the rest of multipitches with torn-up fingers for lack of protection.

    looks good, well-made, durable materials

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Overall i really like the bag. The material feels very durable. Love the look. The small zipper pocket is great for a key or contact lens drops. The strap removes. My hands are on the larger side, but i have no problem getting them in and out. My only gripe is the cinch closure. It almost always leaves a small opening in the middle no matter how hard you cinch it down. I also find that it takes some extra fidgeting with two hands to open all the way. Other bags I've used seem to open more easily with a single hand.

Note, because of the shape, the bag doesn't like to sit upright on its own. So, if you like to set your bag down after chalking up (e.g., bouldering) you might want to look for one having a flatter bottom.

    Sturdy, good size, nice design

When you receive the bag you see it means business.

    what i like:

    1)It's very sturdy,

    2) it's light,

    3) it's a good size (more medium than small)

    4) zippered compartment has a strap with mini carabiner, so you can securely clip on keys, rings etc.

    5) love the color combo.

    Good bag, wrong colors

I got this as a gift for a fellow climber. I'm considering returning it because the colors are not true to the picture. The color combo doesn't look nearly as good in person. The "sand" is more brown than yellow/tan. Not super happy about it, but the bag itself is good!!

Is the waist strap on this bag removable? Id like to attach the bag directly to my harness.
