Lighter and more compact than the previous version, the Mammut Removable Airbag System (RAS) 3.0 increases efficiency on demanding uphill tours, and inflates in a mere three seconds when deployed in the event of an avalanche. Its height-adjustable, T-shaped deployment handle provides a more ergonomic release trigger for easier use. The brightly colored airbag provides great visibility in avalanche rescue scenarios where large debris fields are present. For maximum convenience, the RAS 3.0 quickly and easily swaps between different Mammut packs. Plus, there's a safety leg loop that keeps the pack firmly attached in the event of a traumatic slide.

First air bag
I haven't had the chance to play with this much, but I am stoked to have it this year. With current situation and people entering the backcountry, I couldn't be more excited to have better safety equipment. I'm not sure what pack I will get, either the Jones RAS 32 or Dakine Poacher RAS 36. I love my Dakine Packs and Jones snowboards, so I bet both of these products will rock.

Easy Installation
Compact airbag, easy installation. I have it installed in a Dakine Poacher 36L pack as my daily Ski Patrol pack. Change out a couple things and its ready as my day to day BC ski pack or my BC rescue pack.

Safe bulletproof system
I have been using this system for years and I feel confident enough with it. I don't want to rely on a power source, so I'd rather have a canister system. Plus, I have different bag from different companies with the RAS system so it is nice to swap bags depending on the days.

Compact and transferrable
Very easy to swap RAS 3.0 between different size packs. Color coordinated tabs make it easy to set up. Lightweight enough that i'm willing to carry it every day without noticing the added weight. Airbags are a piece of equipment that provide added peace of mind when traveling through avalanche terrain without interfering in mobility and efficiency. Works great in Dakine backpacks that are compatible with RAS 3.0 systems. Seamlessly swap between different sized packs for different adventures.

Tested in a non-threatening scenario
Set up was super easy. It was fully compatible with my Jones backpack and while I haven't used it in a full avvy scenario (yet?) ive tested it a few times and it works like a treat.

Gotta Love Safety
Shipping was quick, it does in fact inflate into an airbag. Got this one because it was compatible with my pack. Have to say it is larger (& offers more protection?) than the BCA airbags. Hopefully I never actually need to use it!

It's not as durable fabric as I like but still a great airbag.

Good bag, excellent versatility!
This gets a 10/10 for versatility but only a 7/10 for its use as a standalone airbag. Why a lower score? It's just a little old and bulky. Weight is a concern as well. If they would go ahead and let the US market use the carbon canisters, things would change fast but... Anyway, the versatility is great! I have a large and a small volume bag I can switch the system out with and I live the option.

Fits great into my Dakine back pack! Tested it out. Works well but luckily haven't had to use it yet.

Is this only available for compressed gas or can you get a fan? You can?t fly with a compressed cylinder and they are expensive to refill.
