A women-specific fit makes the Mammut Ophira Harness a comfortable learning harness, whether you're at the gym or the local crag. Split Webbing technology separates the webbing into two strands that ride over and under your hips in order to reduce weight, increase ventilation, and decrease the necessity of padding without hindering your comfort or safety. One Slide Bloc buckle at the waist keeps you secure while the elasticized leg loops offer a snug fit. Mammut also equipped this harness with four gear loops for convenient organization, a tie-in protector for excellent longevity, and a drop seat buckle for bathroom breaks.

Generous Leg Loops!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

As someone who is somewhat athletic (read: has quads) finding a harness with legs loops that aren't too constricting has been really difficult. I read online that this harness has leg loops that were larger/strechier than typical and it is totally true! It's really comfortable and the colors are great. No complaints!

Solid Harness

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have had this harness for about a month and a half and have used this harness in the gym and at the crag. It is comfortable enough that I often leave it on for the hike back from the crag to cut weight in my pack. I do top rope and rappelling and I have enough space to rack all of the caribiners I use on two natural anchors on the harness with room to spare for my extra belays and belay biners. I feel comfortable and secure in this harness for all uses I have tried (gym, top rope, belay, rappel, tie-in to tear down anchors).

I am 5'5", 115 lb with a short torso/long legs and my legs are on the thinner side. The XS fits me well. I have room for layers around the waist and some thin layers on the legs. If I did have thicker legs I may have an issue with leg loop diameter. Definitely do a measurement if you are unsure. The sizing chart seemed fairly accurate to me.

Amateur climber

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This was recommended by a friend as a good beginner harness. So far it's been fine! it's comfortable and isn't cheaply made. The thigh loops aren't adjustable, they just have a bit of stretch for some give. So if you've got larger thighs keep that in mind. I was on the cusp of an xs and small and decided to go with the small. It fits excellent.

Great Value & Works So Well

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a handy harness that fits very well. It does the job and Mammut has added some cool safety features (plastic reinforcement, wear indicator, etc.). I use it 3-4X a week in an indoor gym and have had it for 4 months - it still has plenty of life.

And of course, the striking colors help! I've gotten so many compliments.

Actually Comfortable!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I do about 95% of my climbing outdoors, and most of the routes are multi-pitch, so a comfortable harness is a must. I had a BD Primrose for a while that just wasn't cutting it for comfort, so I decided to try the Ophira. SO glad I did! Climbed a 5 pitch route over the weekend and couldn't be happier. Super lightweight, good gear loops for a trad rack, fits around my hips perfectly, the waist/leg ratio is just right, and I don't feel like it's cutting into my kidneys during hanging belays. The only thing I don't like about this harness is that it doesn't have a full haul loop (just a little loop for a chalk bag. Bummer). But given how happy I am with the harness overall, I can live without a haul loop.

Great for a beginner

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I'm just learning to climb and found myself in a predicament. I wasn't sure if I wanted to drop a lot of cash on gear, but renting was getting expensive. This harness was the perfect solution. It's totally barebones, but gets the job done. The only issue I've experienced so far is the leg loop slipped out of place and created uncomfortable pressure on my way down.

For size reference I'm 5'3 135lb and the M was a perfect fit.
