Description

A simple, sturdy workhorse for moving up and over rock.

Move from the gym to the crags and then to the cracks thanks to the Mammut Ophir Harness' comfortable, lightweight design and wallet-friendly price. The dual-layer padding provides cushioning during a belay or rap into the canyon, while the perforations and mesh surrounding the waist and leg loops enable breathability during long, hot summer routes.
  • Two-part webbing spreads the load over the entire foam belt, reducing pressure on your waist when you're hanging or falling
  • The rear Drop Seat buckle enables you to take bathroom breaks without removing the whole harness
  • A tie-in protector made from durable plastic deters abrasion in the lower loop to extend the life of your harness
  • Four gear loops hold all your draws and cams for leads
  • An extra-strong haul loop keeps your auxiliary gear close on big walls

Great harness at a brilliant price, it is lightweight, highly breathable and comfortable. A great Buy

Comfort at A price you cant beat

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this as my first harness in a medium, I'm about 6'3 and 150 pounds. It fits great and is very simple to put on. I mostly use it training in the gym and its very comfortable and breathes fairly well also. The price was what sold me but the quality was top notch.

Great harness for the price!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I boulder mainly and I just got this harness just for the times i choose to sport climb or if I have to clean a boulder problem. Considering this harness is less then $50 i think it is probably one of the best harnesses out there. It look really similar to the Sama but is usually quite a bit cheaper and the color is sweet to!!!!! It is pretty comfortable but after about 15 mins hanging your legs kinda go numb but i am pretty sure it is the same for any other harness. But overall a safe buy;)

if im a large in a black diamond momentum sa harness, should i go with a large for this harness?

Responded on

Hey Alex, thanks for your question. Yes, the fit between the two harnesses is very similar. You will want to stick with a size Large in this Mammut harness.

Joelle's probably right, but if you're not sure, the size chart based on waist and leg size is linked right under the "size" pulldown menu.

Great Harness

This is the 3rd harness I bought. It is by far the most comfortable to be hanging. The non adjustable leg loops make this harness a snap to put on. Not to mention the price is great for its quality. I do recommend this harness to friends,

It's a lot more comfortable than my old harness and I dig the color. Seems really solid which is a bonus since I hung onto my last one for a long time

What size is suitable for a 30 inch waist?

Best Answer Responded on

I'm 6'1", 165 with a 32 in. waist. I bought the medium and found that it was perfect in the legs, but a little snug in the waist. With that in mind, the medium would work well for a 30 in. waist.

great harness

This is this first harness that I bought and I could not ask for more from it. It's lightweight and packs down pretty well. it has the easy to use buckle, because doubling back is a waste of time and a pain, especially in the winter. It has enough gear loops and for a cheap harness it is surprisingly comfortable. I've never come back from a long day of multipitch with bruises from this, which is something that I can't say is true of the other harnesses I've used. Frankly, I don't know why anyone would bother spending $50 dollars more on a harness that will do the same thing. The only thing it doesn't have is space for ice screw clips, but I don't have to worry about that. Also, this harness has stood up to a year and a half of moderate to heavy use with little more than some paint scraped off the buckle.

Good beginning harness

This is the first harness that I bought and it has worked great so far. I am pretty new to climbing but there isn't much to complain about other than the leg loops seem to ride up some. It does a good job and is a deal for the price, would recommend to anyone looking for their first harness.

New to climbing, love it.

Just started climbing at my local rock gym (Source, in Vancouver, WA) and bought this bad boy as a cheap, starter harness. It turns out, there is nothing cheap about it; it is solid in every way, comfortable, and extremely user friendly (no fitting guessing games).

There is only one, self cinching buckle to tighten at the waist, no doubling back on it because it is self-cinching. The legs are kept semi-tight by some strong elastic in a one-size-fits-all kind of way. The four gear loops are super accessible on the wall.

Overall, very safe, comfortable and high quality.

fantastic harness Mammut

Wow is all I can say. Bought this a as a spare to take out friends and turn people on to climbing. After getting this I'm replacing my Petzl which cost $40 more than this harness. This thing is really made well, fully featured and just incredibly comfy. Sick value for sure.
