Start your child out right in climbing by giving him or her the Mammut Kids' Ophir Harness. Split Webbing technology separates the harness's webbing into two strands that ride over and under his or her hips in order to reduce weight, increase ventilation, and practically eliminate the necessity of padding without hindering comfort or safety. Four Slide Bloc buckles ensure a comfortable fit, and adjustable leg loops accommodate the skinniest legs. Mammut added drop seat buckles for bathroom breaks, two gear loops, and a patented tie-in protector so younger siblings can send when they're old enough, too.

Great little harness

My daughter is TINY, 44" & 40#, and this harness works great for her. There's a little wiggle room in the waist even with it tightened as much as possible, but it won't go over her hips so we're fine with that. Excellent construction/materials, is basically a kid version of their adult harness.

    Great little harness

I see the below review says it fits a 3 year old. How would much is it adjustable? I have a 5 and 7 year old, and was wondering if they could use it for a few years.

    Best Answer

It's very adjustable. The waist goes up to 26 inches and the legs up to 17 inches. I'm an adult and my legs are only about 21 inches around, so I can comfortably say that this harness will fit them until they're big enough for adult harnesses. Keep in mind that most manufacturers recommend replacing harnesses every three years if they're used outside due to degradation of the nylon in sunlight, but if you're mostly in the gym, this should be useful for 5-7 years easily.

    For my nephew

    • Familiarity:I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Bought this for my nephew for Christmas and he couldn't have been more excited to start climbing! He is 3 and it fits him perfectly. Love the easy slide bloc buckles. Super slick to get him in and out of , even when he's wiggling around. Really love the quality of Mammut harnesses, and it doesn't look like they skimped on craftsmanship here.
