Peak performance and durability.
High-mountain expeditions can involve some of the harshest terrain on earth, leaving no room for error in many situations. In order to be successful (i.e. stay alive) in these conditions, your outerwear must be performing to the highest level at all times. The Nordwand Pro Pant is the most technically advanced mountaineering pant offered by Mammut, and will hold up to any and all abuse that you or mother nature can dish up.
The Nordwand Pro is constructed with a stretch 3-layer Gore-Tex Pro Shell that offers reliable weather protection, very high breathability, and an excellent durability-to-weight ratio. Extra-high cuff reinforcement made from Schoeller-Keprotec fabric protects against crampon mishaps for even greater durability. Integrated snow gaiters with hook-and-loop adjustment are designed to stay securely in place and can be adjusted to suit mountaineering or ski boots.
On long expeditions, business can be conducted relatively easily with the help of the full-length Dropseat zip, meaning you won't have to fully disrobe. The zip also extends down the side of the legs almost to the knee, and can be used for ventilation. An externally-adjustable waistband and removable suspenders help dial in the fit, and a regular fit ensures great range of motion.

Rips easily around ankle
- Fit: Runs small
During my first wear which included a but of backcountry hiking these pants ripped a few different times on the inside of the ankle, right in the area where they appear to have protective fabric.
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: Runs small
I had to get the Pro version because they stopped making the regular ones, which I bought last year, but had to return due to bad dwr coating. The non Pro ones fit me perfectly with adjustability still left over. I'm 6', 205 w/ a 34 or Large waist and these at their max were snug in the waist. BC was kind enough to send another pair, but same thing. It kills me that they had an almost perfect design/fit and had to "make it better". They kept some of the nice features like adjustable pant cuff bottoms, but changed other things for the worse, imo.
Note: the only pants that usually are too snug in the waist are Patagonia. All other trim fit pants fit perfect. e.g. Millet, Rab. OR have a whisker more room in the waist on most pants.
it says that it has a dropseat zip, but...
it says that it has a dropseat zip, but from what i can see that's only on the older models, the picture here certainly does not have a dropseat zip. These look like just about the best pant you can get, and i really feel like i would love them, might just have to get a pair myself, especially now that they're on sale...
