Description

They've had a good run, but there's a new pant in town.

Ditch those ancient cotton hiking pants, because in case you haven't heard, softshell is the way to go. The stretchy, comfortable Mammut Women's Miara Softshell Pant delivers much higher performance than your Old Faithfuls, and looks super-stylish while it's at it. The pant's SOFtech softshell fabric gives you breathable protection from wind and light precipitation, and resists abrasion from encounters with pack straps or rock faces, too.
  • Stretchy fabric and articulated knees offer excellent mobility
  • Adjustable hems let you cinch the cuffs over your boots
  • Welded cargo pocket lies flat against your leg

Are these pants very wind proof? I'm looking at getting these or patagonia's guide pants. Thanks

Responded on

Both these and the guide pants are made of softshell material, so should be about equally windproof.

Very versatile, rugged pants

Wow. I love these pants! I have worn them for rock, alpine and mixed climbing, and just last week, backcountry skiing in Montana (it was 60 degrees!). They allow for layering underneath on cold days, protect from all of the scratchy things involved with desert climbing, stretch to make a highstep of figure 4 a piece of cake, and breathe well in that 60 degree ski tour. The cargo pocket is very streamline yet fits an energy bar, camera, or iPhone, whatever my priority is at the moment... These pants look great and perform well- I would definitely recommend them!

Everything you could want

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This pants are great. They move really well, they are the first softshells I have tried on that I felt like I could climb in with full flexibility. Mammut is also a great brand for the taller ladies, I'm 5'9" and I've noticed the pants are all long enough for me and the sleeves on jackets are typically longer than other coats. These pants are also very flattering which is a bonus to their functionality!

Multiple-Use Pants, Hold Up Well

I got these pants for climbing on cold days -I was looking for synthetic, abrasion-resistant, softshell pants that could be worn with our without layers underneath. These are great for that!

I also have worn these for a lot of other things -namely winter hiking, cross-country skiing, camping, etc... They layer really well with other pants and long underwear. The only thing they really don't work as well for is running -as they're somewhat heavy and tend to fall down a bit with bouncing/ pounding.

These pants have held up really well to all of these tests; I'd definitely recommend them!
