Description

In cold conditions, nothing protects like a puffy.

When things get really chilly, zip up the Women's Mammut Biwak Down Jacket for the unmatched warmth of 800-fill goose down. The innovative double chamber construction eliminates the cold spots that typically plague down jackets, and Fibrefill body mapping inserts on the back and underarms work to transfer perspiration to where it can evaporate. Adjust the hem and hood for a snug fit, then enjoy the scenery on freezing cold days that would have normally sent you running for shelter.

  • The Pertex Endurance shell fabric resists water and is highly compressible so you can pack this puffy for winter trips
  • 800-fill goose down keeps you warm in the bitter cold of the high mountains
  • Innovative double chamber construction eliminates cold spots in the jacket
  • Fibrefill body mapping inserts on the back and underarms transfer moisture to where it can evaporate
  • Three-point hood adjustment system ensures a perfect fit with or without a helmet
  • Lycra hand gaiters seal around wrists to keep snow out
  • Adjustable hem with a mini-skirt seals around the hips and won't ride up

I only enjoyed the chance to wear this jacket for one day, but boy oh boy do I want one now! It's incredibly comfortable, the outer fabric has a really smooth, silky texture to it. The microfleece lined pockets are generous in size with easy zippers. Though I think my favorite part was the wrist gaiters. They are a soft, stretchy fabric that is incredibly comfortable. (I liked them infinitely more than the gaiters featured on Norrona products). I normally don't love gaiters, but these ones were just excellent.

The hood is generous in size, it easily accommodated my ski helmet.
The jacket itself is very warm (duh...of course it is). I was waiting atop a peak in the Wasatch for sunset, and couldn't feel the slight breeze, nor the cold. This jacket is fairly packable, though not so much as other, thinner down jackets out there (i.e. the Patagonia Down Sweater), but it's also much warmer. I think this would be a sweet pick for Mountaineering trips, winter/ice climbing or skiing in frigid climates.
I've been shopping for a down jacket for a while now (9 months!!!) and I will be waiting until this jacket hits shelves next year so I can grab my size.
This was love at first use.
