High-quality insulation for critical alpine realms.

Head into cold, unforgiving mountain environments armed with the compressible, insanely warm protection of the Mammut Men’s Ambler Hooded Down Jacket. Stuffed with lightweight, high-lofting 800-fill goose down, the Ambler packs huge heat for stormy days at basecamp, on frigid belays, and any other time where a loss of core warmth equals game over. The baffled construction eliminates cold spots, and the internal mesh pockets keep your water bottles from freezing. As you wear this jacket hard, you'll appreciate the reinforced shoulders as well as the bomber Pertex Microlight face material that's lightweight yet durable. The Ambler has tons of pockets for organization while you're crushing it. To keep the elements out, use the adjustable waist and hood, and you'll further feel the warmth of the high-loft down.

Is the hood down-filled?

Yes, Tons of down in the hood. They didn't skimp or put less in the hood like some manufacturers. Also, Mammut has down on both sides of your hands in the handwarmer pockets, not just the outside.

Superb Down Layer

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

This parka is incredible. Instead of bells and whistles it has exactly what you need. It's simple, the sizing is perfect for layering, and it's super warm. I've heard people complain about the fact that "the zipper pull is on the wrong side." There's a great rant on Amazon I suggest you read. As long as you're willing to engage a little brain power to overcome this enormous hurdle, you won't be disappointed.

basically a 0 bag, - lower half, + arms

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Super puffy down jacket. Very warm. The fit is true to size, but intended for layering. I purchased this jacket to wear as a belay coat on winter ice climbing trips in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and Northern Ontario, where the low is often between -10 and -20F. I also carried it instead of a sleeping bag on summer alpine ascents in the North Cascades and Tetons. It is a very durable jacket too. Many times I have thought I snagged it (rock, tree branches, ski edges, ice tools, etc.), but have found no tears yet. There are a couple stains / sticky spots from stuffing it into my pack with used GU wrappers though.

Super Warm

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

This is a super warm puffy at a great price. Stream-lined design, all the features you need, none you dont. Lightweight, compressable and so warm. Having climbed Everest a couple times, this is a jacket I would wear on summit day. Slightly oversized to fit over your layers.

Will you get this jacket also in red color...

Hey Andy,

Let me share a secret: we just got the Inferno Carbon (red) in stock a couple days ago and I think they are just working on getting the inventory on the shelves. Keep checking back because that should hopefully be live within the next couple days.
