First Mammut - I LOVE THIS!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: medium

I can't believe how much I love this jacket. I did get the white (with the fear of it getting all mucky soon), but I've been wearing it in my cold apartment to help lower utility costs. It's extremely soft, warm, comfortable. It's a fitted jacket (silhouette/hourglass shape), I would say it's true to size, when I zip it up the neck is a bit tighter than I really like, although i really like the height of the collar. I'm always pulling at my crew neck tee's, etc... but I'm adjusting. The hood is fantastic! It's an elastic hem with no draw cords, and it fits snuggly and it STAYS! This makes me very happy :)! I really like the length of the sleeves with the thumbholes. The zippered pockets are like none I've ever had! They actually fit like so much I couldn't even find my phone in the pocket because of how roomy it was (now I know better). For example the left pocket has room not only to the right, but a little room to the left as well and then it's a long pocket too. Great for all the stuff you end up carrying around all day. I do get chilly from slight October winter breezes, while waiting for the bus in the city (most likely because I'm not moving I'm sure). I bet with a nice base layer it would have protected more wind chill. I highly recommend this, and go for the white, despite your fears!
**Update 11/26/15: I have been wearing this hoody with my puff outer jacket and then a shirt as a base layer. I have been so cold with the Salt Lake weather this year and I can actually say for the first time in my life that my torso stays warm (even when just waiting for a bus). I love this. I ended up getting black as well. I hope others find this as functional and as a good investment as I did.

This is awesome! Wore it this past weekend on a cold windy day up in the Berkshires on the Appalachian Trail. Windchills were in the low to mid-30s and I wore this fleece with my Mammut Go Warm tee under it and stayed warm. The only times I felt any chill was down by the water when the wind would blow (wind speeds probably 15-20). The chill I felt wasn't so bad though that I needed to add a jacket or think about putting a long sleeve shirt on underneath it.
The fleece interior is incredibly soft as is the nylon exterior. The hoodie fits very close to the body and doesn't create any bulk, quite flattering. The pockets are high enough up so that they're accessible with a hip belt and large enough to carry quite a few items in. The hood fit snugly around my head which meant it stayed put even when it was windy and eliminated the need for me to grab out a hat when the temps dropped.
Love this!

Great Fit

First off the Mammut quality is in this jacket, very well made and fits well. The jacket is not as heavy as I hoped however under a shell it keeps the wind at bay. I wore it on a bluebird outing at about -5C and was warm, the hood really is snug fitting for when the breeze kicks up. I just had a merino wool base layer underneath and did not feel cold or clammy at any point. Overall I'm impressed with this jacket and will no doubt be wearing it a lot in the future. The hood really does fit snugly and does not impair vision when you turn your head. Will be great for climbing!
