Description

Ditch the watch and grab the skis.

What time is it? Touring time! Even if your clock is malfunctioning, the Madshus Epoch Ski won’t. Fine-tuned with a delicate single camber, the Epoch turns as well as it tours. A lightweight wood core spreads flex evenly throughout the ski, while a progressive sidecut allows smooth initiation into hard and soft snow alike, so you don’t find yourself stranded in backcountry quicksand.
  • Carbon laminated above the core for added durability without added weight
  • Progressive, varied sidecut makes for quick release in sludge
  • Full metal edges come in handy for carving onto groomers or hard slopes

Very fun ski for the east coast backcountry. Might want something a little wider if we got more snow, I've only had these out in 1 foot of fresh max but they floated well. Initially had them mounted with NNN BC bindings, which were great for touring but lacked in turning power. Set them up with the Voile hardwire (3 pin) and now they carve perfect turns. Lightweight, good traction. Even taken these to the local resort a few times, and they can shred (soft) groomers as well.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Nice combination of kick and glide, with good downhill control. Paired with a 3 pin binding and a backcountry boot, or light telemark boot, this ski fills a nice niche of exploring rolling terrain with the ability to tackle the downhill stuff, too. Climbs nicely without skins on moderate elevations. Great all around touring/backcountry ski

These are the same as the old Karhu 10th mountains. A little wide for classic tracks, but they hold there own in snowmobile tracks and breaking trails on fire roads or around the lake. I have NNN BC bindings on mime and I am considering putting on 3 pins to get a little more control skiing downhill with better boots. These are fun for rolling around the hills, and have a good kick and glide.

3 pin bindins with heavier boots: you won't be disappointed as this will make your downhill experience even more enjoyable.

Couldn't agree more, Jeff. I have the same setup as in your photo (on Karhu 10th Mts) and I love it. The perfect setup.
