The Mad Rock Men's Mountain Boots give you high-end ice climbing and mountaineering performance at a price any dirtbag climber can handle. Mad Rock uses Kevlar polyester uppers to give the Mountain Boots excellent moisture protection and keep them feeling nimble on your feet. The high rubber rands increase durability when you have to take on the occasional rock pitch. The Mountain Boots also have a low-profile toe to allow you to jam that hand crack on pitch 10 of your alpine route instead of scraping your way up the dime edges on the face.

Bottom Line: The Mad Rock Mountain Boots provide proof that high-performance mountain footwear should not cost more than your 15-year old car.

Super Sweet, love them.

The boot is great, climbs well, warm and comfortable. Not cut so narrow (womens fit)like most of the Italian boots. Not sure what the Anonymous guy is talking about, I think he has probably not really used the Mad Rock boots or does not climb. The Sole is actually shorter and sticks out less than on my La Sportiva boot. I had to shorten my cramonpons to fit snugly which was good and seemed to lessen the burn on my calves while front pointing. It does stick out more than on a walking shoe or sneaker due to the step in feature but that applies mountain boot that take a step in crampon. Its edged and climbed better on rock than my other boots, maybe because of the rubber?? Not sure why? Have not looked at all my boots and shoes but I think my Asolo hiking boots are made in China and know La Sportiva approach shoes are made there?? The Quality is good so not an issue for me with any of the brands.

These are awesome boots.

These boots are a great all around boot. Easy to break in, easy to get on and off, very warm and dry in the elements. I use them for snowshoeing, hiking and mountain work. Awesome with step in crampons. They fit true to size. I'd buy them again in a heartbeat,.. especially at the price. BTW: the tag on mine said made in South Korea. Regardless, they are VERY well made. Spend more if you want but these boots rock.

A Good Look at the Mountain

The above lone negative reviewer's so-called “good inch” of rand sticking out (as if around the whole boot!)is near an inch of upper climbing rand swell over the instep only—other mixed boots do similar design. Its for the other side of mixed--you know--rock climbing (good for cracks--so take off your "dry tooling" crampons and climb!).Check out Boreal's Ice Master or its Croz for comparison. Materials are comparable to any Euro boot -with young Mad Rock's quality assurance in place. Economy is passed on to the buyer with big savings. Lose your mindset and try them!

Mad Rock in China

By:
September 14, 2007

DO NOT buy these boots. The design sucks, the upper part of the boot sticks out a good inch over the sole. This means that you can't edge with the side of your boot. It be a pain in the ass when you are dry tooling and you can only front point because the upper keeps pushing your points off of the rock. Also the boot is made in China!
