The Mad Rock Men’s Jester Strap Climbing Shoe has a good sense of humor on the outside, but once it’s time to climb, this hook-and-loop performance shoe is all business. Building from where the popular Mugen shoe left off, the Jester has your back for all your sport or bouldering projects.

  • Science Friction rubber sole and molded heel cup for sticking to small holds and heel hooks
  • Vegan-friendly synthetic upper won’t stretch over time
  • Artistic graphic gives you some added style at the crags
  • X-Tension system and padded tongue keep your foot secure and comfortable

Bottom Line: This shoe laughs at 5.12.

Good Shoe

I have been climbing in the gym for 4 months and the Jester has provided good performance on beginner to expert routes. The sole is super sticky and I like the velcro on them. I bought one size smaller than my street shoe (which is tight but provides good performance). These shoes are a great starter shoe for beginners who plan to work into the intermediat and expert routes. At first, the shoes are nice and stiff, which helps keep your feet/calves from getting tired too fast while you try and find hand holds. But after a while, they break in and are good for smearing as well. They fit the contour of the foot well with no wiggle room yet they are sensitive and good for edging. I'd suggest buying this shoe.

Darn Good

This has been a surprisingly good shoe. I originally bought some 10s because i tend to wear those in most climbing shoes but i had to upsize to a 10.5 and they do pretty well, especially for bouldering.
Pros: Sticky heel hook
Nice toe but not too pointed
Very comfortable
Cons: I've taken these out to some real rock only a few times in the month or so that i've had them ant the rubber on the toe is already starting to get scraped up.

comfortable performance shoe

By:

This are my favorite shoes ever. They are extremely comfortable and fit my narrow feet perfectly (I'm female, and I'd recommend these to both men and women). The sticky rubber is fantastic. I use these shoes for crack climbing, thin face edging and smearing on granite, bouldering outdoors (the cupped grippy heel works really well), and gym climbing. The very precise edges and a narrow toe profile makes these shoes excellent for thin cracks especially.
Finally, I like how the velcro straps aren't very long like on most shoes. Long velcro straps become undone in cracks and ultimately deteriorate. The straps on these shoes have not been an issue at all.

Jester isn't clowning around

The Jester could have been named the “Ruby Slipper.” I put this shoe on right out of the box, went to my area’s newest local crag, and started climbing like I was in a dreamland for four straight days. The new Mad Rubber is extraordinarily sticky throughout a range of temperatures through the day. The comfort of the shoe allowed me to climb all day which let me focus on what was important, the climbing. The red slingshot heel lockdown gives good performance for balanced heel maneuvers while clipping. Although it doesn’t have the power in the toe like the Con-Flict, it’s still a high-end performer while being an all-around great shoe for any occasion. Grab a set of these and have a great time sending !
