Drifter Climbing Shoe

Just because the Mad Rock Drifter Climbing Shoe costs about half the price of it's competitors doesn't mean it lacks the juice to get things done. In fact, this may be the least expensive shoe to ever climb V15. Ultra-sticky Science Friction rubber keeps this Mad Rock shoe glued to the rock while the dual hook-and-loop closures lock your foot in place. Instead of getting all overkill with useless features, this shoe uses an unlined leather upper which molds to your foot as you wear it.

Great shoes, better customer service

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought originally the same size as I use with sneakers and they were really small. I contacted Backcountry's gearhead team and they proceeded with the return and the new order with the right size. Superb customer service. Buy at least one full number bigger than what you usually wear.

Good quality. Know your size!

Size Bought:
12.5

The shoes came quickly and were of a good quality, especially for this price. I am new to climbing and ordered the size that fit me well when I tried shoes of a different brand in the gym. Turned out the sizes are significantly different between brands. I'm going to find a place where I can try this brand in person and then order here again.

Too small

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:
4.5

These shoes were so small that I literally laughed out loud when I saw them. I was super excited to receive them, but I could barely squeeze my foot into them. I ordered my normal size and they were at least a full size too small. If you're going to order these absolutely size up. I have no choice but to return them, and now I have to pay the return shipping. Along with that, I bought them on sale, and now that they're no longer on sale, I have to pay full price if I want the correct size.

Too small

I wish I had read the reviews. I really don't understand the sizing. I thought I got a size up from my son's current size. This is like a baby shoe.

Got these when Backcountry was running a sale and don't regret it one bit. They are true to size, grippy, super comfortable, and versatile. Have used them face climbing, climbing, and so off-width. Just an all-around classic.
