All the crushing power and footwork in the world doesn't do much if you can't walk due to discomfort. The Mad Rock Women's Banshee Climbing Shoe keeps you comfortable during day-long jam sessions at the crag. A leather upper and lace-up design offer a custom fit, while Science Friction Rubber adheres even to elusive features and faces. A narrow heel and toe keep your footwork precise and waste-free, all while preserving your sanity and averting the need for a foot massage post-trick (though that might not be the worst thing in the world).

I bought these for my wife and she has absolutely loved them! This is her first pair of climbing shoes so I didn't want to spend a ton of money and the Mad Rock Banshee really seemed like a good idea. She really likes how they fit and how comfortable they are. The laces are nice because it makes it easier to adjust the shoe in certain areas which is something that she really wanted. The color is better than I thought it would be and she loves how good the grip is for the climbing that we do. For the price these are a great beginner shoe but still have enough grip to keep using for a long time.

I bought the shoes in 2008 for my wife and are still going strong. Almost 7 years and still have a little life in them. Take care of them and they will take care of you. They are snug as a climbing shoe should be. We do natural climbs, no indoor walls and they work great.

so far so good

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm just getting into climbing and bought these after reading reviews online. So far I haven't been disappointed...the left shoe is pretty tight on my big toe but that's probably just my feet. I don't have much experience with other brands yet but I'm pretty pleased with these!

Excellent Shoe!

I wear a street size 6.5- 7 (I got my feet measured recently and technically they are 7.5's, but I wear 6.5's or 7's in every shoe I own). I bought this shoe in a 6.5, and it fits great. Maybe a little too comfortable (I can and do wear it for hours at a time at the gym), but perfect fit as a beginner. I bought these four years ago as my first pair, and have never had a problem with them. The heel cups fit like a glove, and my toes don't feel crammed. They have served me well for four years of gym and outdoor climbing.

This year, they finally wore through on my right big toe. Not bad for how much I put them through!

classic beginners shoe

I got a pair of these as my first set of climbing shoes and they have served me well. They're not particularly aggressive and they won't help much on technical outdoor routes, but if your spending most of your time climbing in the gym, or you're just starting to climb outside, these are a great place to start. They're also the cheapest climbing shoe you will find.

    not for wide feet

I tried these on and used them once or twice, but even if they stretched out all the way I think that they were made for skinnier feet. If I had thinner feet these would have been just fine for casual use at the climbing gym, but I think I'll stick to my old one for now.

      not very comfortable

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

The moment I put these on, the tops of my feet hurt. The seam on the inside of the shoe close to the toes and tops of the foot sticks out and causes discomfort. It might have been a defect shoe? I dunno. I had the correct size, but the fit was not right for my foot. I'm not sure how they perform on the rock, bc I put them right in the box and sent them back for a different pair. Good thing the return policy for backcountry is totally awesome!
