    Citrus, cinnamon, cycling.

Unscrew the cap. Take a whiff. Close your eyes. Gently breathe in. You'll get it -- a citrus bouquet, cinnamon and clove hanging out just underneath. The scents recall winter warmth and comfort, with a hint of freshness. This is the secret of Mad Alchemy's Russian Tea Warming Embrocation. It's strong, safe, and energizing.

For the master alchemist, this aroma takes him back to winter holidays with his mother-in-law. It's cold outside, but the house is warm. The Russian Tea is there for comfort. This is his go-to rub on race day. The scent helps him relax and focus on the task ahead.

This tub comes out whenever embro' is called for, which is pretty much all the time. Cool mornings, cold afternoons, road racing, cyclocross, you name it. A number is pinned on, then the Russian Tea Warming Embrocation is pulled from the gear bag.

In terms of heat, it's a medium rub with an equal percentage of capsicum annuum as the Medium packs. It doesn't pack a punch or a wallop; it's just right.

The ingredient list pretty much matches the Mad Alchemy Medium save for the line-up of essential oils. They're a bit different to provide a different scent for a different sensation. You'll find grapeseed and rapeseed oils with some shea butter and unbleached beeswax mixed in for the smooth texture. The warmth comes from the inclusion of capsicum annuum, and the aforementioned mix of essential oils gives it a scent that's comforting yet gets you ready for action.

    Love the smell!!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Smells REALLY good. Goes on very easy. Still having a little trouble on my end determining how long to apply before riding. Does seem to kick up a notch once you start sweating. The heat is right at the threshold of being "toasty" and "too warm". In other words "just right".

Word of advice, use dishwashing soap or rubbing alcohol to wipe/clean it off BEFORE showering or you could be in a world of hurt.

    50% excellent, 50% funky.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

New to the world of embrocation creams, I bought Mad Alchemy's Russian Tea Warming Embro and I'm glad I did. It's has perfect heat for those 40-55 degree days, activates after 30 minutes of application, and lasts approx. 1.5 hours. The fragrance is a little funky but isn't a deal-breaker by any means. Oh, and the consistency is a little weird - I expected it to be akin to a lotion but instead its like a super oily wax candle.

Oh and be careful when using this stuff. It gets everywhere.. all around.. in every nook and cranny. and sometimes it gets places you weren't intending and hurts like hell.

    I like it a lot...

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Same heat as the medium M.A. embro I've used for years. Smells the same, but yet just a little different. I little clove scent, and maybe a little black tea smell.

Same high quality embro from M.A. as one would expect. Peter has it figured. Just buy the best...

Pro-tip : Latex gloves. Thank me later.

Russian tea or Russian truckdriver scent

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

There is no doubt in my mind that this embro cream is made for cold weather. Cool? HAH! If you like your legs feeling like two pieces of bacon under a heat lamp. Great quality, but I thought I smelled more like a Russian truck driver than Russian tea.

    Great for cooler weather

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I agree with the guys below (Not the guy that doesn't like it). This is a cooler weather embro. Good for low 40's to 30's. I've noticed that some people's skin reacts differently to this than others. For me, the MED blend is HOT! Give it a try, made in America!

    Russian Tea is great

Great embro, I love Mad A products. This is a medium but a little goes a long way, so to speak. Do not over due it, or it will burn, but everyone's legs are different. I've noticed it took about 45 min to really kick in and get active. Perfect for fall/spring riding.
