    The best lantern!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are SUCH a hit for any kind of camping. Pack small - about the size of travel tissue pack - but provide a lot of light. No need to worry about gas or weight with these lanterns. Everyone we camped with wanted them! I did not think they were hard to blow up, just like a beach ball.

    Amazing back country night light

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Wasn't exactly sure what to expect and kinda purchased on a whim. Worked perfectly as an outdoor night light for the camp site and as a nightlight inside a tent. Lasted all night the two times I used it on low setting and was effortless to set up. Charged even in low light situations attached to the outside of my pack. Blown up it is about the size of a nerf football and when deflated, it is about the size of a wallet. So light, you won't notice the weight.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm not really sure why I'm so attached to this little balloon - perhaps because it looks adorably cheerful when lit - but other than the Kirby-esque cuteness, this funky little thing generates an impressive amount of light. It can be used folded up as a packet (which is how it arrives) or blown up and carried/hung/etc like a lantern. The solar charging is a plus - when electricity isn't readily available, it's nice to not have to worry about a source of fuel... granted that the sun stays out! I have noticed that it will charge in cloudy/overcast weather, albeit slowly.

On a daily basis, I can leave it in my car, somewhere that will catch some rays (although not directly in sunlight - I'm not sure if that's good for the plastic), and use it to light up the cargo space of my Wrangler at night - an area that stubbornly refuses to be lit by the dome light inside.

A couple tiny drawbacks: the design of the blown up lantern doesn't make it very comfortable to carry it around without the LED light in your eyes, but it's more irritating than blinding. It helps to hold it with the solar panel in the direction of your face or to just carry it folded. Also, the first time you try to inflate it, you may find yourself a bit light-headed. Took a bit of effort to get it properly blown up initially, but it was a breeze after that first lung-busting session.
