Pack mules are great, until they get scared of bridges and turn around, leaving you gearless. You do have to carry the Lowe Alpine Kamet 65:75 Backpack yourself, but it's not scared of anything, and has enough room to carry gear for a three-day weekend or a longer light-and-fast trip. The adjustable Axiom Back System, padded hip belt, and sprung steel frame make carrying up to 66 pounds as comfortable as it can be, and the rugged nylon fabric doesn't shrink from thorny thickets or rocky squeezes. 

If you can't fit all your gear in the 75 liters of internal space, the Kamet has compression straps, multiple lash points, and a front Spider Bungee system that let you hook all sorts of gear to the outside of the pack. There are also plenty of pockets, including two side water bottle pockets and small stashes on the hip belt. For easy access to deeply buried items, Lowe designed a front-panel opening, saving you the trouble of having to unpack and repack, and even included a raincover to keep your clothes, food, and tent nice and dry while you're on the move.
