Whether you’re hiking a bumpy backwoods track, walking the dog along a gravel trail, or standing for hours while coaching a soccer game, count on the Lowa Men’s Tempest Lo Hiking Shoe for extended comfort. Lowa shaved the weight and improved the stability on the Tempest Lo with its new Monowrap midsole construction. Add the shock-absorbing Vibram outsole and these shoes fit the bill for excursions on easy to moderate terrain. While you’re working up a sweat, your feet stay cool thanks to the wicking lining and the Lowa Climate Control System, which allows air to enter the lining while each step pumps heat and moisture out.

Bottom Line: All-around performance, comfort, and durability.

Just OK

My first pair were great. They were comfortable and I used them for everyday wear,
hiking, and going to local climbing areas. Then,I think the quality of the manufacturing
got cheap. The next pair the heal cup shifted after 3 weeks. If you're not careful putting your shoes on, the material near the top of the heal cup wears out fast. TheRand catches on Rocks and rips away from the leather(yea, yea I shouldn't drag
my toes when stepping over rocks). But the last pair I didn't drag my toes as much,
but the Rand seperated slowly from the leather. I wouldn't of bought the next pair, but I was desperate for a new pair of shoes, tired of shopping, and I knew these would fit.

Color Photo on Backcountry Not Accurate

By:
May 4, 2010

FYI - the color photo on Backcountry's web site is NOT accurate and the actual shoes are not even close to what is pictured. The actual shoes are very dark gray - very much along the lines of the "Anthracite/ Slate" label. Still great shoes but not what I expected.

Highly recommend Lowa. Having owned several pairs over the years, I can say they are outstanding quality, great fit / comfort, long lasting, etc.

European manufacturer is a plus as well.

most durable

By:
September 21, 2010

of all the brands I have tried so far the Lowa Tempest is the most durable shoe for a heavy person.
The upper holds up incredibly well; the lining eventually wears out on the heel
The sole is mega sturdy and does not wear

New Lowa Tempest

By:
April 11, 2010

The new design of the Lowa Tempest is definetly NOT the same as Tempest from past years. The shoe is completly different from the tread pattern to fit.I was extremely dissapointed with the new model.Over the past 5 years the shoe has been almost unchanged until now.You might want to search around for the old style Tempest. But for now, a little bummed out in Colorado!!
