Best on the market

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

This makes my 6th pair of Lowa hiking shoes. They fit true to size and do have a short break in period. My latest pair the Renegade II is the second pair I own purchased for hiking the Catskill Mountains this season. My everyday shoe is the Tempest. I pair them with Wigwam Pro hiking socks.

This shoe is fantastic

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

This is my third Renegade. Besides the Mid I also own a identical Lo shoe for over five years. I walked in them up and down mountains, over glaciers and on city asphalt. Not once did my feet hurt after more than six hours of walking. These shoes are comfortable from the start and will last you a long time.

Great Shoe but size not available for me

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

I have an older style in this shoe and it is still going strong. Just wanted an extra pair when these finally give out. Next time they go on sale in my size it's a done deal!

Do you ever get this in a mens 13 narrow

Responded on

It doesn't look like we will be getting any size 13's in for this shoe. Sorry about that.

My new brand

Historically I have bought Asolo boots. I have always been pleased and have had no complaints. However, when I put on these Lowas I found the perfect fit. These might be the most comfortable shoe/boot I have ever put on directly out of the box. After just a week, they felt like I had been hiking in them for an entire season. When it is time to replace my Asolo boots in the future for a boot with ankle protection, I have no doubt I will make the switch to Lowa.

Gotta luv em!

Picked these up off of Geartrade at a VERY good price. I don't buy used footwear but these were unused and had only damaged box.

I already own a pair of Lowa Baltoro boots that I love. I wish I had gotten a size larger in the Baltoro (I purchased sz 12)So I got these in sz 13. They are a great fit. My feet are quite wide in the toe area and I have a lot of trouble finding footwear that fits properly. My little toe does touch a little even in these but it is not a problem.

I received these on a Thursday and wore them the rest of that day plus 2 more days at work. I took off on Saturday evening to go on an overnight trip. We went in late Sat. evening and camped just a couple of miles in. Got up and took off the next morning with about a 30lb pack. About 1/2 of the weight was water which was nowhere to be found along the trail.

We were on the northern end of the Knobstone Trail doing the Spurgeon Hollow and Delaney Park loop. It is a very rugged trail with lots of ups and downs. Some steep climbs and descents for a hiking trail. By the time we got back to the car my GPS showed a total of 12.3 mi. By the end of the day I was tired but quite happy that my feet were in great shape. The PU midsole offers good support but not a lot of torsional resistance. Should be expected since these are not claiming to be backpacking boots. Vibram sole had good traction uphill and fair on the descent. Of course the Gore-Tex makes them a little hotter than non Gore-Tex but by being low shoes it isn't too bad. I will probably change the footbeds soon (never seen a stock footbed I cared much for) and treat them with DWR.

**UPDATE** After about 18 months these things were rotten! Tying the laces pulled the eye right out of the leather. I had checked on getting them resoled and the cobbler told me they reject a lot of these for resole because the uppers are too rotten to support it.

Nothing but Lowa!!

I have purchased no other shoes/boots than Lowas over the last 10 years. Sizes are always correct (8.5) and the comfort/fit is great. If you can find them on sale, snap them up!
