Description

Streamline your glove collection.

With the dynamic nature of weather, especially in winter, it makes sense to have some adaptability with regards to your cycling clothing. After all, when you spend five hours out on the bike, a lot can change over the course of the ride. These Garneau Super Prestige Gloves are made with convertibility in mind. They can transform from full fingered gloves to a lobster styled mitt in just seconds, and you can do it as you ride.

The beauty of this system is that you effectively get two gloves in one. Sure, we've loved lobster gloves ever since our first pair of Pearl Izumi Pittards lobsters, and their effectiveness is unquestionable. However, they can quickly get too warm when the sun comes out. That's when we want simple full fingered gloves. The Super Prestige Gloves are both. The top of the hand and fingers are made of a stretch lycra and Wind Dry, a 3-ply waterproof/breathable, micro-perforated polyester. The thin nature of these materials allows them to be super comfortable and afford good grip on the handlebars. This is furthered by the suede-like synthetic Amara on the palms. When the temperature demands it, you can pull the lobster mitts free from the built-in pockets on the top of the hand and slip them over your fingers. At this point you'll have a waterproof/windproof shell encasing your digits for improved heat retention.

The Garneau Super Prestige Gloves are Black and come in five sizes from Small to XX-Large. The palms are padded with a number of gel pads that range in thickness from 1 to 5mm.

  • Lycra-bodied under-glove functions on its own or covered by the over-glove
  • Wind Dry over-glove blocks cold wind and manages moisture
  • Amara synthetic suede palms on both under- and over-gloves provide grip
  • Variable-thickness gel foam in the palm provides vibration dampening, allowing you to go the distance
  • 40g Thinsulate insulation helps keep body heat in, while Drytex lining forces moisture out
  • Reflective piping increases visibility

Combine the features of lobster claw and fingered gloves in one and you've got these gloves. They may not be good for sub-zero temperatures but work well in the low 30's. They give you both the warmth of keeping your fingers close together but you can pull your fingers out of the two pockets to use your fingers as you would in fingered gloves. I love them.

These gloves won't keep your hands warm in 30 F or below winter weather. I wore them once while biking and my hands froze!

I have used the gloves in dry weather at temperatures from +2 up to +8 degrees celsius, and the the gloves do not keep me warm. Not good enough.

Great idea but not enough protection to really work below 40 degrees. I have a pair of Wells Lamont gloves from Walmart that were $12 and are warmer.
