Take it along, just in case.
Changing ride conditions are a nightmare. After all, many of us stock our closets with a kit for nearly every climate, and we're so practiced at deciphering radar that meteorology could be our second calling. But there are times when you simply can't plan for what you'll face out on the roads. That's why a packable vest is an essential part of anyone's wardrobe -- you can take it along, just in case. And the Louis Garneau Nova Vest proves that you don't have to spend a lot of cash for a little added insurance against unforeseen elements.
The front of the Nova Vest is made of Diamond Air fabric, a polyester weave that's windproof, resistant to tearing, and treated with a water-repellent finish. It's also breathable, but you'll get most of your ventilation through the Light Mesh AirDry and Micromesh fabrics that make up the back of the vest. The Nova Vest has two back pockets so you don't have to dig underneath to your jersey for your stowed gear, and a zipper garage keeps the zipper tucked away nicely. Reflective piping on the back as well as reflective front and back logos ensure that you'll be seen as you push on through those came-from-nowhere storms. The Louis Garneau Nova Vest comes in sizes X-Small through XX-Large and in three color options: Black/red, Bright yellow, and White.

Too small for me...
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
I always wear a large and this vest is very tight across the shoulders. Nice vest, though. I ended up giving it to my very skinny friend and he loves it.
Great Vest for the money
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Very simple piece but does the job very well. Love that it keeps your front very warm (40s-50s F) but allows ventilation on the back. Never had a problem with overheating. The only drawback is the pockets overload easily but i usually store my stuff in my jersey pockets so havent needed to rely on them.
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I have a very yellow bike pump but next to the vest, it makes it look dull. This hue has a hint of green and is extremely bright. There are 2 reflective piping that go down the back that catch my eye better than the reflective tape on my bike. This vest will give you a bit of extra pop at night while you ride those hot summer nights.
Does the job for a lot less...
than the other vest options.
I bought this to give me a packable layering option for cool days in the 10C range where my windblocker jackets were overkill and just a base layer wasn't enough. I found it was something I can put on and ride for hours without even unzipping. Just enough wind blocking up front and a mesh rear means no overheating after 30 minutes.
My medium fit to the Sizing Chart.
