Louis Garneau rode for Canada in the '84 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. He didn't go home with a medal like his compatriots Steve Bauer and Curt Harnett, rather he went home with the experience and memory of the stifling heat at the games -- a direct contrast to the cooler Canadian temperatures he was used to. When he started his cycling company, these experiences shaped his drive to make clothing and cycling gear that addressed the temperature extremes that we cyclists face as the seasons unfold.

The Garneau Lemmon Short Sleeve Jersey is a perfect example of this strategy. It's made of Garneau's Airdry fabric. It's a lightweight, stretchy polyester that is woven with tiny inner cells that facilitate the moisture wicking and permeability traits of the material. As the name implies, it dries really quickly as it doesn't absorb an appreciable amount of moisture in the first place. The Airdry fabric is SPF 20 to ward off sunburn for those lucky days when you get a long midday ride. Garneau uses a contrasting mesh material under the arms and around the cuff of the sleeve to further improve the comfort level on brain-meltingly hot summer days. The third defense against the heat is a full-length zipper in front to allow maximum ventilation. If only there were tifosi along the roadside to dump bottled water on your head as you rode past.

The flatlocked seams are stitched with a contrasting color to the body of the jersey, but matching the color of the mesh. The Profit cut of the Lemmon Jersey is form fitting to avoid the dreaded flap, reminiscent of amateurs with hand-me-down clothing, but not tight like a skinsuit. And the bottom cuff has gripper material to keep the jersey in place, right where you want it to be. The three back pockets are standard fare, but Garneau includes a fourth Quik pocket on the right side. There is a tiny buttonhole stitched in to allow for discreet routing of your headphone cord under your jersey so you can pedal to the metal, or whatever musical genre it is that you prefer.

The Garneau Lemmon Short Sleeve Jersey is available in five sizes from Small - XXL and comes in three colors -- White, Royal, and Red. There are reflective logos on the front, back, and sleeve to help make you more visible.

This is a very good jersey and always reasonably priced. Especially on sale. Good all around ventilation and airdry fabric. I'm 6'1" 205 and the XL fits well. It's not too tight not too loose. It's cut very well and the stitching adds a slimming effect. Nice jersey. I have bought an XL in white & in bright yellow. The white is slightly larger. So I suppose all jerseys have slight differences.

Based on my positive experience with the Real Cyclist team kit, I ordered this jersey in royal (blue) in size M for my 5' 10" 170lb frame. Fits well - a little longer than some jerseys, and looser on the body than what I consider a full "race cut." But it doesn't flap around in the wind and the material breathes very nicely. Took it out on a 40mi ride today, started in the low 60's and ended around 80. Couldn't have been more comfortable (also wore my LG bibs). A good buy at under $40.

thought large would have been the right size based of the slim fit in the specs but I should have looked at the sizing guide too. I'm 6'1, 180 and it was way too loose so I had to return it. They're out of stock in a med so I guess it's back to shopping. Looks like a nice jersey though, especially for the price.

Nice jersey, not a super tight fit. Like most, if you have a decent amount of upper body muscle, it will be tight in the shoulder. I'm 6'4 220 and I had to go with the XXL.

I'm 6'2" 205 the XL is perfect for me especially when wearing bib shorts. Flattering, stylish cut. The Bright yellow keeps you visible (I hope) and the material keeps you cool. Great sleeve cuffs hug your arms and silicone gripper keeps jersey in place. It's my fave and I'm about to buy another.

I received the Louis Garneau Lemmon Jersey last night and wore it for the first time today.

The Fit:

I ordered the Ginger in a medium. (Im 5'10" 152 (at the moment) 32" waist and wish I had a bigger chest. (Right now it's 38".) The shirt ran a bit long and I wouldn't' call it a race fit. It wasn't loose, wasn't tight but just right. (Kinda like the three bears and the porridge.) It did feel good and didn't sag at all.

The ride:

When I set out for the ride this morning, it was in the mid 60's, light wind and the sun was popping. I rode about 21 miles, rolling hills with a light to moderate pace. It wasn't too warm so I got away with wearing my 2XU compression sleeves (just in case I needed to shed something if it got too hot.) The shirt kept me cool and breathed really well. I could see this be a huge benefit on a hot day where I'd be sweating a lot more.

Overall I really like the shirt and look forward to wearing it again.
