Look good, stay warm, and ride faster.
For all but the wettest, wintriest days, riding with a hard shell jacket can be more bother than it's worth. Even the best-fitting hard shells will flap in the wind and many have that crinkly, stuck-in-a-potato-chip-bag feeling. The Louis Garneau Geminix Jacket 2 is part of a larger industry trend away from hard shells and toward jackets that provide an appropriate level of weatherproofing with softer, lighter, and more flexible fabrics.
For the Geminix 2, Garneau used a combination of their new Sismik and Vertexx fabrics. Sismik is a 3-ply knit with a perforated polyurethane membrane that blocks wind and rain, but also effectively wicks moisture away from the skin to the outer layer of the fabric, where it can evaporate. To further protect you from the elements, the outside of the fabric has a Durable Water Repellant (DWR) finish. On the inside, Sismik has textured mesh for next-to-skin comfort. Vertexx fabric, the other component of the Geminix 2, is brushed on the inside and covers strategic areas of your core to help you retain body heat.
The Geminix Jacket 2 has Garneau's pro fit, meaning it contours the body closely for aerodynamic efficiency. A cycling-specific collar allows for freedom of movement while providing full coverage and protection from the cold. Three back pockets give you plenty of room to stash your ride essentials, while a front chest pocket provides convenient access to slimmer items like credit cards or cash. Elastic at the wrists and a gripper at the hem keep the jacket in place, and front and back reflective logos and piping offer plenty of visibility for low-light conditions. The Garneau Geminix Jacket 2 comes in sizes X-Small through XX-Large and in three color options: Black/white, Ginger, and White/black.

Great Value. Nice Details and Quality.
- Gender: Male
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I just received this jacket 2 days ago and was very pleasantly impressed. Based on the one previous review I felt I was taking a chance, but at the price thought it was worth checking it out. I ordered the large and it fits beautifully. I am 6'2" and weigh 195ibs. The jacket fits well over either a base layer or single jersey. The trim and tailoring is well engineered to be long where necessary but not baggy. There are also nice details such as the silicone grab-band at the waist to prevent the jacket from riding up your back as you ride. Overall from trying it on, inspecting the quality of the workmanship (double stitching where needed, venting placements, etc.) and wearing it for a period of time to assess comfort, I am glad I made the purchase, because at this price the jacket is an absolute bargain. I will see how it preforms during cold weather on the road once the weather chills down.
Kind of a muddle
I bought a large and found the jacket to be odd-fitting -- large was tight across my chest (41"), fitted well on the sleeves (34.5"), but really large in the waist (33"). The Gemenix 2 seems more like a heavy jersey than a jacket and redundant to the Enerblock. Returned the Geminix. Purchased the Enerblock, and found it fit true to LG sizing -- medium was perfect.
