It's a simple fact we that can't help but reiterate time and time again: Your bib shorts are undoubtedly the most important part of your outfit. They're your connection to the bike, and the Louis Garneau Elite Lazer Bib Shorts facilitate a harmonious linkage between you and your ride with intelligent design, innovative fabrics, and a chamois that's second to none.

Garneau constructed the Elite Lazer bib shorts out of Lycra Pro fabric and used a seven-panel design for an anatomic fit. Lycra Pro includes 25% spandex to offer excellent muscle support and to ensure that the shorts keep their shape. It doesn't provide quite as much compression as the Lycra Power fabric used in Garneau's Course collection, but the fabric is also a bit lighter as a result. The black portions of the shorts use a Coldblack treatment that reflects heat, rather than absorbing and retaining it. And the Lazer Rev fabric provides silicone-free grip at the lower thighs in order to keep everything in place.

Garneau constructed the uppers of the Elite Lazer bib shorts out of Power Mesh and Carbon X-Mesh fabrics -- using Power Mesh for the lower and back portions, and Carbon X-Mesh for the shoulder straps themselves. And because it contains spandex, Power Mesh is both body-conforming and breathable, two factors that're essential to effective moisture management around the core area. The shoulder straps are made out of Carbon X-Mesh, which, in addition to ventilation, provides gentle grip and anti-static properties.

For further comfort, the bib shorts feature Louis Garneau's own, patent-pending 5 Motion chamois. This chamois, developed with Beveled Edge Molding, uses a 3D, pre-shaped wing design that moves in unison with your body in order to eliminate abrasion. It also features variable-density, a perforated memory foam that's been shaped objectively towards every direction of movement and pressure. And unlike other forms of variable-density padding, the 5 Motion shape ensures that height transitions flow smoothly from region to region for pinch- and chafe-free comfort. Garneau also included a center channel, much like your favorite saddles, that relieves pressure on the urethra and pudendal nerve. The insert also effectively evacuates any moisture -- another source of chafing and bacteria.

Garneau added reflective accents in front and back to increase your visibility to motorists in low-light conditions. Also, a back pocket allows you to stash essentials if it's sweltering out and the flailing, wide-open jersey look becomes a necessity.

The Louis Garneau Elite Lazer Bib Shorts are available in five sizes from Small to XX-Large and in the colors Black and White.

Best Shorts I've Ever Ridden

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I've owned over 50 shorts and bib shorts over the years and these are by far the most comfortable. The compression fit takes a little getting used to, but I hate wearing anything else now. The chamois is perfection. I love these shorts so much I bought a second pair. Considering the price range, that says quite a lot.

Best of the Best!

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I have tried the best bibs and this bib short is simply one of the very best of the best. I tried Assos Mille, Louis Garneau Course(their highest model same chamois different material), Pearl Izumi Pro In-R-Cool, Craft Elite Body Contour, Rapha Pro, Giordana FRC, Gore Bike Wear Xenon Race, and these are still one of my three very favorites easily. I find them to have the best price, some of the very best materials, incredible fit, fantastic leg hems, and easily one of if not the very best chamois I have ever ridden! For pure Material I feel Craft Elite are the finest, for best cut either Gore Bike Wear Race or these Lazers or Mondo Evo's as well with the older chamois(which is still very nice). Yet these still have the best all around qualities at the best price(and in my opinion are easily worth more money)! Summary, very light svelte materials with incredible quality flat lock full seamless stitching, great leg hem grippers, very breathable and moisture wicking, best price of the bunch, one of the very best fitting units around(keep in mind they are very Euro hence you can often buy a size up from normal American fit). Will continue to buy and own multiple pairs! You can buy without worries!

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I am 5'-10" with 30" waist and 150 lbs. The small is what I currently own but would prefer the medium. Most likely the best chamois I have ever used and a very good pair of bibs. Several 80 mile and an 105 mile ride with no problems. I have no complaints, very impressed.

Great bib

Most comfortable chamois I've ever ridden. My experience is with top level bibs from Castelli and Pearl Izumi. The fabric is very cooling in hot weather. I also agree with previous reviewer about is European along lines of Castelli. Order a size up

Good quality with a good price

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

This is another good option for a quality short from Louis Garneau. It's got the same fit as the top of the line Course Race Bib shorts so expect it to fit a full size smaller than most North American brands. Order a size up if you are unsure!

The 5 motion chamois is nearly unnoticeable and moves with your body really well; its performed well for me on many 3-4 hour rides. I like that the short fits very snug but is not restrictive. The whole piece is really light and I'd recommend this bib short if you want the comfort of the top-end bib shorts without the high price or compression.
