Inspired by the wild success of the R-series of bikes from Cervelo, Litespeed completely re-wrote their design process in the creation of their new flagship L-series. The L-series bikes supercede Litespeed's previous aerodynamically-oriented C-series, but are still designed to be nimble and aerodynamic, and produce a superlative ride quality.

The L1 Dura Ace Build is the prince of that series; however its second-in-command presence belies a phenomenally well-rounded, one-quiver bike. Constructed from a robust 30-ton weave of carbon fiber, the L1 starts with an oversized head tube to keep the front of the bike stiff and confident while cornering and on descents. Tube shapes are also radically varied depending on their function. The flatter, linear tube shapes from the front of the bike shift dramatically to oversized and asymmetrical rectangular tubes at the seat tube and bottom bracket junctures, all of which are designed to optimize the bike's exceptional stiffness-to-weight ratio.

Litespeed went with a new, slightly wider BB386 bottom bracket standard (also used by European marques Wilier and BH), a platform best suited to pure climbing machines. And equipped with Shimano's pro-caliber mechanical Dura Ace groupset, the Litespeed L1 fires an emphatic shot across the bow of every calendar race and 'fondo from April to October.

The Litespeed L1/Shimano Dura-Ace 7900 Complete bike is available in Black/blue, and in sizes from Small to X-Large

  • Fulcrum Racing 3 wheels are as dependable a training partner as they are a lightweight, race-ready pacemaker
  • Zipp Service Course SL cockpit further preserves the lightweight, aerodynamic aesthetic of the frame
  • Campagnolo-style Zero Stack headset system helps preserve a comfortable, yet race-ready geometry without the use of spacers
  • Comfortable and supportive fi'zi:k Arione saddle is a favorite in the pro peloton for good reason
  • Litespeed uses proportional, size-specific tubes based on each bike's size to ensure a Small rides just as well as an Extra-Large

Is there any addl charge for you to put a compact double on the bike. I would like to buy it with the compact double already installed

Responded on

It appears that it comes with the 53//39 already. Isn't that a compact double?

Responded on

A compact double would be a 50 / 34, or 50 / 36./

A 53/39 is standard

Porsche of bikes

This is like the Porsche of bikes. I love it! This is my first carbon fiber bike... I know I splurged but the deal was well worth it for the high-quality carbon fiber frame, Dura Ace components, wheels, etc. The bike is very fast and handles excellent. The shifts are immediate and the bottom brackets are monstrous for great power transfer. I love the matte finish on the frame ? it's not flashy and simply looks cool.
I had a Trek aluminum frame bike before and this bike simply is no comparison. I had a grin from beginning to the end of my 20-mile ride.
The bike came in a box with most of the bike pre-assembled. All you have to do is ? insert the seat, handle bars, wheels, and screw in some pedals. Nothing difficult ? but you do have to "fit" the bike to your liking or size. You may need a hex-star-key wrench to adjust the handlebars, and seat post.

would it be possible to fit an Ultegra compact crankset on this bike?

Any bike from any website is going to be at least partially disassembled when shipped. You'll probably have to install at least the handlebars, rear derailleur, wheels, seatpost, and pedals.

Can I get a compact crankset on the bike instead of the standard 39-53 crankset?

I got this bike last week and I can hardly describe how it performed. With the massive bb386 bottom bracket, it's super stiff so that all of the energy that you put into the cranks goes straight into the drive train. And I can't get over the matte black paint job. In the words of Ferris Bueller, "It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up. "

Justin, how much do you weigh? i am 222 and wonder if this bike will work for me?

Responded on

Is that an Ultegra compact crankset on this bike? If so, was it easy to set up?

Responded on

@Baq100255310, That is indeed an ultegra compact. You just need to get a BB386 adaptor, such as That's the exact one I used and it works perfectly.

@ Gary Barba. It depends on the time of the year :) I usually fluctuate between 155-165. I was in contact with our Litespeed rep during the time I was building my bike up and he assured me (and I agree) that the frameset is rather robust. For you're weight, I'd definitely get a set of "Klydsdale" type wheels though. Just my 2 cents anyway.

ordered it with the standard fulcrum 3 wheel set they are rated very high in durability.I should get the bike this week, cant wait!

just took the l1 on it's maiden voyage in the Catskill mountains of Upstate NY. First thing you notice about the bike is its beauty and world class looks. The ride is quick out of the blocks and the lateral stiffness out of the saddle is impressive, i noticed on the descents that the bike is stable but fast with incredible handling, can't wait for tomorrows ride!

after 5 rides and about 125 miles, i can say that this is a world class bike at a amazing price..the frame is incredibly kite and strong but fast and beautiful to look at.. i am 220 pound and the frame doesn't flex at all..

@ Gary, I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying your whip as much as I have been all summer.

@emi3038334, It's holding up just fine. I haven't had any issues with it all summer long. If you have any specific questions about it, feel free to call at 800.409.4502 and ask for me.
