Remix XP9 Kayak

Liquid Logic is turning the big one-oh this year, and to celebrate, it tweaked out its innovative Remix XP9 Kayak with funky new graphics and an eye-catching deck. But don't worry; underneath it all, it's still the same inspired crossover boat that can take paddlers of any level into just about any kind of water and excel at it. From multi-day self-supported boat-camping trips to daylong adventures in moving water, this touring-rig-meets-river-runner tackles it all with ease.

  • Wide, white-water-inspired design creates a stable platform to paddle through class III rapids and choppy water, perform controlled Eskimo-rolls, and manage full loads of camping gear with ease
  • Extended waterline, channels in the hull, and drop-down skeg enable straight-arrow tracking through flat water
  • Spring-loaded skeg can be deployed with a flip of a lever in the cockpit
  • Restyled Bad Ass seat incorporates DVC mesh that drains water, vents away hot air, and provides comfortable cushioning that adjusts easily for a custom fit
  • Adjustable hip pad provides increased contact with boat
  • Easy-to-adjust foot pegs can be set to the optimal length

Bottom Line: Bridging the gap between whitewater and flat water.

Hello, I'm a beginner. I'm 6ft 180lbs, can I fit comfortably in this kayak ? I want to get a good kayak for the creeks and rivers around where I live. Mostly what would be classed II's and III's, some flat water also. For day trips and weekend or longer camping trips. Thank you

The hull tracks perfectly well without the skeg, but the skeg is great in windy or flat water conditions. The seat is the most comfortable I've sat in. Storage is ample. If you find yourself scouting trout, the kayak rolls easy. I'm 5'11" 150lbs and the xp9 is perfect size. If you are taller than 6', you might want to go with the xp10. No complaints at all on this boat!

I'm looking for a recomendation on a yak, I'm an experienced

I'm looking for a recomendation on a yak, I'm an experienced canoer and am looking to transition. I'm looking for a boat that can handle some whitewater (II's and III's maybe a IV-?) but not be totally dreadfull in the flatwater like a playboat. Anyone have any thoughts?

Hi Robert,
I have paddled this boat in both whitewater and flatwater and it handles very well in both. I like the maneuverability of the 9' version and even though it's shorter, it has served me well on long laps around the lake as well. You might also check out the Dagger Approach (my personal favorite hybrid). Remarkably similar to the Remix but about $300 cheaper. To me, the main/only advantage of the Liquidlogic over the Dagger boat is the larger opening for dry storage access. The storage capacity for each boat is about the same but the opening is much bigger on the Remix which makes it far easier to cram a tent and sleeping bag into! Happy kayaking!

Robert, I have read some really good reviews on this yak and it should handle the whitewater fine. I am not so sure how it will perform on flatwater. I wish there was a one boat that does everything great but I am not sure it exists.
